The Blue Candle of Peace

21 Astrea/Dec. 18

Hail, Madria Theia, Jana of Illumination, Joy and Benevolence. May the Pure Stream of Your Virtues flow within me, in this world and in all the worlds to come.

Today, we light the Blue Candle of Peace in honor of the Holy Daughter as Dea, Dove of Peace.  The Blue Candle also signifies the Sacred Season of Spring, the direction of East, the time of Dawn, the Symbol of the Dove and Madria Grace. The Mystery is Aurora, the New Dawn (of All Life).

First light the Green Candle of Wisdom and say, “O, Dea, Apple of Wisdom, be with us.”

Then, light the Yellow Candle of Hope and say, “O, Dea, Star of Hope, be with us.”

Light the Violet Candle of Faith and say, “O, Dea, Fora of Faith, be with us.”

Then, light the Blue Candle of Peace and say, “O, Dea, Dove of Peace, be with us.”

The scripture reading for today: The Mythos of the Divine Maid, Chapter II,  4-19, Celestial Union edition:

Those that were princesses among them brought their crowns to the sacred grove as gifts, and shepherdesses brought the new-dropped lambs, and all the daughters of the earth brought forth the fruits thereof to lay before the cave. 5. But before the cave stood an archangel of Thea, robed in a garment so white that the eyes of earth’s children were dazzled, and with a countenance of such great beauty that it was a fearful thing to look upon her. 6. And the daughters of the earth covered their eyes and threw themselves to the ground. 7. And the voice of the archangel was like to the rushing of a thousand waters. 8. And she spoke, saying: “Be not afraid, for a new light is dawning over the world. Be not afraid, but approach no further, for if you cannot look on me, how should you look upon my Lady, whose handmaiden I am?”

9. And her voice grew gentle, like the wind among the icicles, and sweet beyond all telling. 10. Then she spoke, saying: “This night shall a child be born that shall be the daughter of light and the princess of all the world. 11. A child is coming that she shall carry the light of Thea into every part of creation, even to the most desolate of the places of darkness. 12. Rejoice, poor wanderers of the earth and exiles from the house of your Mother, for to you shall come a guide and a deliverer.”

13. When the voice of the archangel ceased, a silence fell that was the first true silence since the beginning of the world, and the last that shall be until its end, 14. and the children of earth watched the sky as the first rays of dawn crept across the heavens. 15. Then a cry issued out of the cave, saying: “The holy child is born from the most holy Mother; light has come forth from light, perfection from perfection.” 16. At once the air was filled with the daughters of heaven, and the sky was ablaze with the radiance of their joy, 17. and they sang aloud to the glory of Thea. 18. When the shining ones ceased from their song, the world became quiet again, and the star grew brighter and ever brighter, until it shone brighter than the radiance of all the host of heaven; and yet its light was so gentle that the eyes of earth’s children were not dazzled, 19. and the colour of the light was not one of the seven, but a wondrous luminescence not known within the boundaries of the world.

Blessed are the souls, O Daughter, who love Your name; Your graces will comfort them.

Those souls will be refreshed as by fountains of water; you will produce in them the fruits of justice. Blessed are You, by Your holy heart.

By the beauty of Your Form, You surpass all beings; by the excellence of Your sanctity, You surpass all angels and archangels.

Your mercy and Your grace are preached everywhere; the Holy Mother has blessed the works of Your hands. ( Adapted from the Psalter of the Mary by St. Bonaventure.)

Deep peace of the running wave to you,

Deep peace of the flowing air to you.

Deep peace of the shining stars to you.

Deep peace of the gentle night to you

moon and stars pour their healing light on you.

Deep peace to you.

Ending prayers:

Hail, Kore, Fountain of Grace, Glory be to Thee. Blessed art Thou, O, Queen of Heaven and blessed is Thy beloved Mother. Holy Dea, Daughter God, bless us, Thy children, now and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

Eternal is the Light of the Mother.

Eternal is the Love of the Daughter.

Eternal is the Life of the Great Mother.

Glorious is the Eternity of Dea.

Let us bless the Queen of Heaven.

Blessed is She.

Let us thank the Seven Janati of Power.

Thanks be to the Janati.

(Trace Fora) In the Name of the Mother, and of the Daughter, and of the Great Mother. Blessed is She.

(Extinguish candles after the meal.)

Each night for the following week, as we light the Sunwheel for the evening meal:

First, light the Green Candle of Wisdom and pray:

O, Dea, Apple of Faith, be with us.

Then, light the Yellow Candle of Hope and pray:

O, Dea, Star of Hope, be with us.

Then, light the Violet Candle of Faith and pray:

O, Dea, Fora of Faith, be with us.

Light the Blue Candle of Peace and pray:

O, Dea, Dove of Peace, be with us.

Extinguish all candles after the meal.

May Our Lady Bless you.

  1. I can not use candles due to living with birds. I wanted to add that those who can not use candles for whatever reason can use individual colored lights like I do. No matter how the light is created. Ultimately, we are wanting the representation of colored light.

  2. Thank you, Sorella Shoshana. I actually meant to include that on the first Sunwheel post. Thanks so much. Yes, electric candles are always an option.
