The Janite Understanding of Priestesshood.

The following is the Janite understanding of the priestesshood in contrast with the mainstream Christian view of the priesthood.

A priest is understood to be the holder of a divinely-instituted office who served as God’s direct representative on earth and, as such, uniquely held the powers of 1) transubstantiation, 2) hearing confession, 3) imposing penances, 4) absolving sins 5) the power of blessing 6) the power over the sacraments.

Janites take a vastly different view of the priestesshood:

We believe that we are called by Dea to serve Her by serving Her children. In humbly serving others, we are serving Her.

We believe that we are called to be Her Face and Hands upon the Earth, in the service of others.

We believe that through the proper Initiation into Priestesshood, that our priestesses become open, focused channels of the Grace of Our Lady, Our Heavenly Queen, Our High Priestess, She Who is the Holy Daughter, Déa Filia.

Janite priestesses are called to be humble servants of the Children of Dea and do not aspire to fill all roles for all people such as psychiatrist, sociologist, marriage counselor and so forth.

We are primarily called to teach others about Déa and to dispense the Blessings and Graces of Déa to Her children.

We hold no authority or power over the lives of others.

We do not believe in the RCC style of confession. A general absolution occurs during our liturgy.

Penance, the very idea of imposing penance or exacting obedience would never be considered by our priestesses.

We do not believe that priestesses have the right to become involved in or have authority over a person’s life or life’s decisions. We treat people as adults. We are here to present the teachings of Dea and the system of Her worship. We are here to be the Face and Hands of Compassion, Herself. We are here to become living channels of Her Grace.

And, finally, we do not believe in Transubstantiation in the manner of the Roman Catholic Church. Rather, we believe that there is a Transmission of Divine Grace from the Hands of Our High Priestess in Heaven, through the hands of Her priestesses on Earth.

In our liturgy, we  face Her in the East, as She enters Her Heavenly Temple and stands at Her altar before us, facing us. And through the Transmission of Her Grace, the white wine becomes Transfused with Her Grace through which we share in Her Spirit. We believe that this is possible through Her Sacrificial Descent and voluntarily remaining with us as the World Soul or Holy Soul of the World. The Rosa Mundi. The Rose of the World.

The bread also becomes Transfused with Her Grace and is a sharing of Her Soul, again, through Her becoming the World Soul.

This is different than the teaching of the RCC that the bread and wine each literally become the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ through His Sacrifice on the Cross. (The idea that the RCC believes that the wine literally becomes just the Blood of Jesus and the bread His Body is incorrect. Catholics believe that when they receive the Bread and/or the Wine, they are receiving the Risen Jesus in His entirety.)

In our liturgy, the Priestess is instructed that the sermon last no longer than 15 minutes. During that time, she is never to ‘preach at’ the people. Ideally, she will share devotions, contemplation, meditations, readings, poetry, psalms, etc.

The idea of the Janite priestess is that they are, in reality, more contemplative/private in nature, while serving the Children of Dea through devotion and through the Janite sacraments. They will not be ‘running parishes’ in the manner of mainstream churches and places of worship.

In the Janite priestesshood, we have three initiation levels of Madrina (Guardian/GodMother Deaconess), Madria, (meaning Mother Priestess) and ArchMadria in the Janite, (meaning High Mother Priestess or ArchPriestess).

In the past, we have likened these three Orders of the Priestesshood to Deaconess, Priest and Bishop, respectively. But given the differences between the Christian priestly vocations as it is understood in Roman Catholicism in contrast with the vocation of priestess as it is understood by the Janites/Reginites, we feel that it is no longer advisable to do so.

Those who are initiated in Reiki will understand the three levels of initiation and how that energy is channeled into your chakras. And once you have it, it never goes away; it does not die with disuse, although it may take a while to reach full potential. It is the same with the priestesshood.

The ArchMadria or high mother priestess is the open channel, like the Reiki Master, for her high mother priestess duties. This Grace, this Energy, comes from the Holy Daughter, Herself. The priestess, in turn, becomes an open channel of the Holy Daughter, Our High Priestess, for her mother priestess duties.

In summary, Janite priestesses are not necessarily the feminine counterpart of the Roman Catholic priesthood. Nor are we similar to ‘parish’ priests. We are private priestesses who serve the Children of Déa through worship, devotion, contemplation, meditation, the practice of the 21 Virtues, teaching and dispensing Her Graces and Blessings.

Let us bless the Holy One,

Our Relationship with the Seven Janati

8 Samhain/Nov. 7

Stelladi/Wed. Day of the Star.

Day of Sai Mati Sage, Messenger of Intelligence, Intuition and Wisdom.

Our readers might be interested in the story of the Russian cosmonauts who saw Seven Angels in Space. I have seen the interviews and have watched their stories on several television shows and it has now been widely reported. These are highly trained professionals, the claims of others that they were suffering from a mass hallucination is bunk, especially considering that other cosmonauts also saw them 12 days later. http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/mind-blowing-story-of-russian-cosmonauts-who-saw-angels-in-space

When we think of the Janati as Planetary or Cosmic Powers, they can seem very far away. We might often feel that they have better things to do rather than helping us with our own, personal needs. And they might appear foreign to us. Impersonal. Out of touch and out of reach like the farthest stars in our galaxy.

That was how I felt when I first encountered them. At the same time, I was very intrigued by not only the idea of them but the beauty of them and what each of them represented.

Hailing from a Catholic background where we were personal friends with the saints in heaven and devotees of the Archangels, I had a deep desire to come to know the Janati. I wished to interact with each them on a personal and emotional basis rather than on just a thealogical and intellectual level. Both are necessary for true devotion!

I realized that if they are Emanations of Déa, then they are no more impersonal than is She. If I can have a close relationship with Déa, then I can have a close relationship with each of Her Seven Intelligent Emanations. The Seven Jeweled Rays. The Seven Royal Ladies of Déa.

They weren’t just Planetary Powers, they were also assigned to rule over the Cardinal Directions and the Five Primordial Elements. So each Jana ruled over the associations of their Primordial Element.

I began to think about Sai Thema (Thamé). She is of my favorite time of year: Fall. And my favorite time of day: Twilight. In our system, She rules over Earth and is Guardian of the West. She is the Janya of Justice, Order and Harmony. She shares this Season with Our Celestial Mother, Who manifests Law, Order and Harmony into motion.

(It is important to note that ‘Lady Justice’ was never depicted as being blindfolded until the 1500’s. Images of Sai Thema (Thamé) should never be blindfolded.)

Her Filianic name (and the noun), Thamé, is from Dharma, which means Firm Law and The Laws of Nature. (1) For Déanists, it also means the Harmony of Order. Her Greek name, Themis, means Law of Nature and Divine Law. Natural and Cosmic Law. Her Reginite/Janite name, Thema, translates to Queen. Sai Thema is the Queen of Natural and Cosmic Law, Order and Harmony.

She Rules over the Cosmic Above and the Earthly Below. Here below, I realized, she could help with all things that are related to Earth in addition to Justice, Order and Harmony. In answer to my prayers over the years, she has provided homes, jobs, court-related victories and all the things symbolized and embodied by the Element of Earth. There were times when right after praying for help, things would happen in such a way, there would be no doubt in my mind that it was Sai Thema who helped me. At times, the answers were downright miraculous. I try to always remember to end my prayer for the ‘highest good’ of the individual or situation.

In the same vein, I began to come to know Sai Vikhé as well. She protects my family; she protects the Ekklesia and she helps me when I need the courage to do things that are uncomfortable for me. When I sit before my campfire, I thank her for the warmth and wonder of Fire. Over time, I have become closer to some of the Janati than others, but they are always with me.

It was ArchMatrona Georgia Cobb of the Lady of Light Chantry who first came up with the Janati rosary. This was the origin of our beautiful Janati mantra prayers. She is the one who composed them by focusing on their Virtues. And that is when we realized how very important those Virtues were. She and I began to place a greater emphasis on them in our daily lives and in our teachings.

ArchMatrona Georgia also taught me, through her Janati rosary, that the Janati are Déa. They are not angels. They are not goddesses. They are Déa. That is when I realized that they are Emanations of Déa, Herself, in Seven Angelic Forms. As she had explained to me, when we pray to the Janati, we are praying to Dea. Once I became aware of that, I realized that Déa is One and Three and Seven. I was very happy to see this formula picked up in an article on the Chapel of Our Mother God website. I believe it is foundational thealogy for all Deanists.

And so I learned that the Janati were not just the Planetary Powers. They were not the Greek Titanides. They were Déa, Herself in Seven Angelic Forms.

These Seven are seen elsewhere, as the Seven Pillars of Sophia, the Seven Virgins of Sophia, the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Who is Female), the Seven Spirits before the Throne of God (the Seven Gifts are the Seven Spirits) and all of these have been shown to tie in with the Seven Planetary Powers in one way or another.

I greet the Janati each morning during my Aurora prayers. Oftentimes, this is when I will say a brief pray for others. I will ask Sai Sushuri Grace to help those who are sick. I will pray to Sai Thema for someone who is looking for a new home. I will ask Sai Vikhé to watch over my family and our country.

There are times, especially when I am working, that all I have time for is the greeting of the Janati in the Five Directions, a Hail, Déa prayer for the Holy Daughter and a quick scripture reading. I do like to include the Daughter of Light prayer if I have time.

I usually pray the Janati rosary of the day on my way to work. It doesn’t take long. These prayers and encounters (through the greeting) surround me with the Janati in the morning and all through the day. As I face each direction and greet the Janya, I am able to sense their Presence in my life.

After the rosary, during my 35 minute drive to work, I will try to think about which Virtue I will try to practice for the day. For example, if it is Columbadi/Fri, the Day of Sai Sushuri Grace, I will choose to try and be more compassionate or more merciful or more loving. I don’t always remember, especially if my day gets very busy, but I start the day with that intention. And, I often fail. Sometimes, quite miserably!  But I realize it is a learning process along my True Soul Path.

My way is not right for everyone. Some devotees simply offer a quick prayer in their own words or read scripture before heading off to work or starting their day. Just because I’m a rosary person, doesn’t mean that everyone is. I grew up with the rosary, so it is as much a part of me as brushing my teeth. Others prefer to pray in their own words or with simple prayers.

I found that what is important, as I was beginning to come to know the Janati, was being mindful of them and remembering that they are here to help and aide the Children of Déa in a deeply personal way. They are Déa! They are Déa in Her Seven Emanations!

During Evensong, I thank each of them for the day. I might whisper a quick little prayer of thanksgiving for any help and aide that I’ve been granted or for prayers answered. If the prayer was for something vital or for an emergency, I will often offer flowers and a liturgy or RoS/V in thanksgiving.

We don’t always see the ‘big picture’ as do the Janati. Sometimes, if prayers are not answered the way we would like, it is usually because either it is not for the highest good of the person or karma might be involved. But even then, help is offered in one way or another. Always.

Sometimes, we don’t realize that things have happened for a reason until we are much further down the road of Life. Sometimes, we don’t realize that we have received the help we needed at the time. This knowledge often comes to us when we are in Avala, the resting place between lives. (See books by Dr. Michael Newton and Dr. Brian Weiss).

All in all, I have learned that Trust comes and Love follows. Relationships are a two-way street. I have benefited, greatly, from coming to know and experience the Janati and I try to honor them, in return. I believe that their Virtues form the Pathway to Heaven.

Let us bless the Holy One.

Blessed is She.

Let us thank the Seven Janati of Déa.

Thanks be to the Seven Janati.

Thus it is and thus may it be.

Apple Seeds of Life

3 Samhain/Nov. 2

Columbadi/Fri.

Day of Sai Sushuri, Fountain of Compassion, Love and Mercy.

Fall for Déanists, (those of the Déanic religion), is a time of Apples and the Cosmos, Seeds and Order, Harmony and Earth.

The Apple is the Sacred Symbol for Fall. And Fall is ruled over by Sai Thema, who is the Foundation of Justice, Order and Harmony, both Cosmic and Earthly. It is the Twilight Season, where seeds fall to the ground, preceding their long rest during the Midnight Season of Winter.

The apples of Avalon, for example, were said to impart wisdom and immortality. Not only are apples a symbol of wisdom and knowledge, but they were also often associated with Paradise. They are an especial symbol of the Divine Feminine. (1)

Gnosticism teaches that it was the Daughter of Sophia, Zoe-Eve who offered the Apple of Wisdom. The Apple of Her Mother containing the Seeds of Life.

In the Gnostic mythos, Zoe-Eve is the Divine Daughter come down to Earth. In this way, Zoe-Eve is truly our Soteria. Sent by Her Mother, She descends down through the realms. She brings us Her Mother’s Life. She shares with us Her Mother’s Wisdom. She offers to us Her Mother’s Knowledge. We do not have to be Gnostic or study all the Gnostic myths in order to believe in Zoe-Eve. She is a most appropriate Form/Image for the Holy Daughter. In Gnostic and other forms of Christianity, She is the Holy Daughter.

The Roma refer to the five seeds which form the pentagram inside the apple as the Star of Knowledge.

The pentagram, the microcosm for the human body. The point-up pentagram represents spirit ascending above matter while the point down represents spirit descending into matter. As a whole, it represents the interconnectedness of the Five Supernal Elements with human life. Unfortunately, over time, the pentagram, especially with the point down has come to represent evil and negative groups.

So, the Apple, within which are the seeds of the microcosmic human, represents the ‘womb’ of Life (Our Celestial Mother Mari). And it represents Our Divine Mother Herself, She Who, through Her Daughter, offers us Wisdom, Knowledge and the promise of Divine Life.

Seeds are amazing, when we really stop to think about them.  A small seed may grow into a mighty tree, a stunning flower of perfection or …a human being. A seed is a small embryonic plant enclosed in a covering called the seed coat, usually with some stored food. (Science Daily).Inside every seed are the basic parts of a fully formed plant: immature roots and tiny leaves curled up like a vegetal embryo. (Smithsonian).

I never knew this. I never really stopped to think about what is actually inside a seed that sprouts forth such miracles of Nature. So, seeds are a tiny version of the plant, itself, along with some food for nourishment and a protective coating. Stunningly, some seeds have been known to still be viable after thousands of years! Mother Nature does her best to protect Life.

All is Life. Quantum science has shown that solid matter truly is an illusion. Life itself is a miracle. It is diverse. It is beautiful. It is strong. It is enduring. It survives against all odds.

Now scientists are finding out that some (if not many) seeds come to us from asteroids and space dust! Imagine that… some of the plants and even animal life on this planet may have come from other planets! Imagine, these seeds are still viable after travelling through the deep cold, the radiation-saturated vastness of space!

The Cosmos is breathtakingly beautiful and filled with Life! Many are coming to understand that the entire Cosmos is Alive. Put in your own search: is the Universe alive? or try Scientists think the universe is conscious and you will discover some very interesting articles!

Everything is living. How exciting when we look up at the stars and the planets knowing that everything is truly connected and one of the ways it is all connected is through the sharing of seeds, the carrier of life throughout the Cosmos.

O, Dea, Apple of Wisdom, we adore you, we magnify you and we glorify you.

Blessed are You.

Feast of Divine Order

Dear Devotees,

Archmatrona Ghrian, of the Lady of Light Chantry, has posted a very interesting article on the LLC’s Sister Feast Days of Divine Compassion, Divine Valor, Divine Wisdom and the recent Divine Order. So appropriate for the Time of Madria Thema/Lady Cosima.

She also presents a Divine Feminine form of Micha-elmas, which is Micha-elah-mas. in honor of Lady Cosima. She relates the tradition of the Dragon of Chaos and includes a delightful recipe for Dragon Maiden Bread. Please see: https:deamatronablog.wordpress.com/2018/09/29/feast-of-divine-order/.

The Way of Love

Lunadi/27 Flora

From a member of the former Secret Madrian Order.

Every individual soul is precisely that, and, indeed, eternally unique…each expressive of a complete part or portion of She. Every soul has their own path to tread in their return to She; yet, all share a common Way in their return, for all are part of the One Life, Life, Herself; She Who is pure Life and pure Light or energy, and pure Love or harmony;and all this world’s requirements are given by Her and all are formed through Her, alone–and the only guiding principle whatsoever is our Mother..for Her true devotees, surely, is this real truth, for all of us know it and have understanding even in this world.

It is important to remember this point, which is that when one searches for one’s path–one searches for one’s life and for one’s life is one’s path and one’s path is one’s life. One, everyone, lives one’s life in this world together with every other creature and thing in this world.

Each soul is karma-bound. That karma or ‘moura’ dissolves only by the commensurate effort of the soul that has gathered it and that effort is an effect that demands much of courage and perseverance and resilience. For the soul that has reawakened, that soul knows that Love is All, therefore, that prime essence of their being is Love and that the whole of their being must become Love, not only live in love, but  become wholly (holy) love..for Love is the source of all love, and the soul that becomes pure love becomes one with Love, Herself and thus is freed from all hardship, every suffering and lives wholly without limitation of any kind, even eternally. Once every creature has re-attained this State, hence shall this world and every world (every level of existence) be wholly perfect. Such requires a vast period of time and this, we have, together with all else necessary. Blessed is She.

The process for the soul is threefold, thus. The individual development and the collective development and the interaction between the two makes three in the process to Perfection. At no moment and in no place does this cease to be true, so there is no escape from this either in the heavens or upon the earth for any creature. One’s path, arightly, is the way one willfully chooses to ‘be’ in one’s right-desire to attain Perfection. This is true in one’s place of work, home and within all of society at every moment; and this path is, simply, one’s life-present existence-one’s wholehearted belief and desire for (that) one’s life and for the life or lives of all other lives, irrespective of adversities and hurt and conflicts.

Way of Love

“When we turned from Mari, at time’s dawn, and began our journey away from Her to learn and know of the things our minds imagined to lie outside of Perfection, then did we move ourselves away from Mari-and that our sovereign will might be, Mari ordered and established this world and the manifest universe separate from Herself, from the Heaven and we are distant from Mari in imperfection, yet, She turns not away from Her children, for the Lady of Heaven, Jana, comes to us as our Sovereign and Ruler of all things. And for the soul who turns again to the Mother, Jana shall guide that soul again to Heaven, to Perfect Union.

The Way of the Mother teaches nothing, but only serves to remind you of what you have always known and perhaps are forgetting. Two little things that are essential to our known or regathering of Truth and these are as follows:

Unless a little child can understand it, it is not the Truth.

Unless a thing contains love, it is not of Love; be it a thought or word or act; and when the truth is taught, unless it is filled with Love, it is not of Love and nor can it be the Truth.

The Truth Herself is Love, she Who is Mother of All. Blessed is She.

The guiding principles are always honesty, trust and love, every thing being under Her gaze, She Who is the Mother of All.

We follow and seek to live the Way of Love, which we consider to be both the simplest way of all and yet the richest and most profound.

The prime consideration is that love governs your all, love for She, love of yourself, love for every soul and creature and thing, for all are Her’s–the Way of Love.

The Way of Love is our guiding Rule, by

She, gently, in the dignity, gracefulness and strength of love, increasingly strive that Love be the source and the quality of your every thought, word and act, that you be filled with love and send forth only intentions formed by love, that love be the air you breathe and ever the whole of you, for this is the way you shall return to Love, Herself, even to the perfect Union with She, Who is the Mother of All, the Holy One and the Way of Love is the perfect knowledge that leads to Perfect Love, Blessed is She.
