Our Relationship with the Seven Great Emanations of Déa (Geniae-Janati-Janae)

Dear devotees and friends,
I have over the past three weeks been blessed by the Geniae/Janati/Janae after appealing in my own words and tears to Kyria Themis/Sai Thema (Thamé)/Agia (Holy) Veritia.
Although, I do strive for a closer relationship, thus ArchMadria Pamela’s article My Journey with the Janati was in such Synchronicity (which is an experience of two or more events which occur in a meaningful manner, but which are causally un-related.) [1]

8 Samhain/Nov. 7

Stelladi/Wed. Day of the Star.

Day of Sai Mati Sage, Messenger of Intelligence, Intuition and Wisdom.

Our readers might be interested in the story of the Russian cosmonauts who saw Seven Angels in Space. I have seen the interviews and have watched their stories on several television shows and it has now been widely reported. These are highly trained professionals, the claims of others that they were suffering from a mass hallucination is bunk, especially considering that other cosmonauts also saw them 12 days later. http://www.techeblog.com/index.php/tech-gadget/mind-blowing-story-of-russian-cosmonauts-who-saw-angels-in-space

When we think of the Janati as Planetary or Cosmic Powers, they can seem very far away. We might often feel that they have better things to do rather than helping us with our own, personal needs. And they might appear foreign to us. Impersonal. Out of touch and out of reach like the farthest stars in our galaxy.

That was how I felt when I first encountered them. At the same time, I was very intrigued by not only the idea of them but the beauty of them and what each of them represented.

Hailing from a Catholic background where we were personal friends with the saints in heaven and devotees of the Archangels, I had a deep desire to come to know the Janati. I wished to interact with each them on a personal and emotional basis rather than on just a thealogical and intellectual level. Both are necessary for true devotion!

I realized that if they are Emanations of Déa, then they are no more impersonal than is She. If I can have a close relationship with Déa, then I can have a close relationship with each of Her Seven Intelligent Emanations. The Seven Jeweled Rays. The Seven Royal Ladies of Déa.

They weren’t just Planetary Powers, they were also assigned to rule over the Cardinal Directions and the Five Primordial Elements. So each Janya ruled over the associations of their Primordial Element.

I began to think about Sai Thema (Thamé). She is of my favorite time of year: Fall. And my favorite time of day: Twilight. In our system, She rules over Earth and is Guardian of the West. She is the Janya of Justice, Order and Harmony. She shares this Season with Our Celestial Mother, Who manifests Law, Order and Harmony into motion.

(It is important to note that ‘Lady Justice’ was never depicted as being blindfolded until the 1500’s. Images of Sai Thema (Thamé) should never be blindfolded.)

Her Filianic name (and the noun), Thamé, is from Dharma, which means Firm Law and The Laws of Nature. (1) For Déanists, it also means the Harmony of Order. Her Greek name, Themis, means Law of Nature and Divine Law. Natural and Cosmic Law. Her Reginite/Janite name, Thema, translates to Queen. Sai Thema is the Queen of Natural and Cosmic Law, Order and Harmony.

She Rules over the Cosmic Above and the Earthly Below. Here below, I realized, she could help with all things that are related to Earth in addition to Justice, Order and Harmony. In answer to my prayers over the years, she has provided homes, jobs, court-related victories and all the things symbolized and embodied by the Element of Earth. There were times when right after praying for help, things would happen in such a way, there would be no doubt in my mind that it was Sai Thema who helped me. At times, the answers were downright miraculous. I try to always remember to end my prayer for the ‘highest good’ of the individual or situation.

In the same vein, I began to come to know Sai Vikhé as well. She protects my family; she protects the Ekklesia and she helps me when I need the courage to do things that are uncomfortable for me. When I sit before my campfire, I thank her for the warmth and wonder of Fire. Over time, I have become closer to some of the Janati than others, but they are always with me.

It was ArchMatrona Georgia Cobb of the Lady of Light Chantry who first came up with the Janati rosary. This was the origin of our beautiful Janati mantra prayers. She is the one who composed them by focusing on their Virtues. And that is when we realized how very important those Virtues were. She and I began to place a greater emphasis on them in our daily lives and in our teachings.

ArchMatrona Georgia also taught me, through her Janati rosary, that the Janati are Déa. They are not angels. They are not goddesses. They are Déa. That is when I realized that they are Emanations of Déa, Herself, in Seven Angelic Forms. As she had explained to me, when we pray to the Janati, we are praying to Dea. Once I became aware of that, I realized that Déa is One and Three and Seven. I was very happy to see this formula picked up in an article on the Chapel of Our Mother God website. I believe it is foundational thealogy for all Deanists.

And so I learned that the Janati were not just the Planetary Powers. They were not the Greek Titanides. They were Déa, Herself in Seven Angelic Forms.

These Seven are seen elsewhere, as the Seven Pillars of Sophia, the Seven Virgins of Sophia, the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit (Who is Female), the Seven Spirits before the Throne of God (the Seven Gifts are the Seven Spirits) and all of these have been shown to tie in with the Seven Planetary Powers in one way or another.

I greet the Janati each morning during my Aurora prayers. Oftentimes, this is when I will say a brief pray for others. I will ask Sai Sushuri to help those who are sick. I will pray to Sai Thema for someone who is looking for a new home. I will ask Sai Vikhé to watch over my family and our country.

There are times, especially when I am working, that all I have time for is the greeting of the Janati in the Five Directions, a Hail, Déa prayer for the Holy Daughter and a quick scripture reading. I do like to include the Daughter of Light prayer if I have time.

I usually pray the Janati rosary of the day on my way to work. It doesn’t take long. These prayers and encounters (through the greeting) surround me with the Janati in the morning and all through the day. As I face each direction and greet the Janya, I am able to sense their Presence in my life.

After the rosary, during my 35 minute drive to work, I will try to think about which Virtue I will try to practice for the day. For example, if it is Columbadi/Fri, the Day of Sai Sushuri Grace, I will choose to try and be more compassionate or more merciful or more loving. I don’t always remember, especially if my day gets very busy, but I start the day with that intention. And, I often fail. Sometimes, quite miserably!  But I realize it is a learning process along my True Soul Path.

My way is not right for everyone. Some devotees simply offer a quick prayer in their own words or read scripture before heading off to work or starting their day. Just because I’m a rosary person, doesn’t mean that everyone is. I grew up with the rosary, so it is as much a part of me as brushing my teeth. Others prefer to pray in their own words or with simple prayers.

I found that what is important, as I was beginning to come to know the Janati, was being mindful of them and remembering that they are here to help and aide the Children of Déa in a deeply personal way. They are Déa! They are Déa in Her Seven Emanations!

During Evensong, I thank each of them for the day. I might whisper a quick little prayer of thanksgiving for any help and aide that I’ve been granted or for prayers answered. If the prayer was for something vital or for an emergency, I will often offer flowers and a liturgy or RoS/V in thanksgiving.

We don’t always see the ‘big picture’ as do the Janati. Sometimes, if prayers are not answered the way we would like, it is usually because either it is not for the highest good of the person or karma might be involved. But even then, help is offered in one way or another. Always.

Sometimes, we don’t realize that things have happened for a reason until we are much further down the road of Life. Sometimes, we don’t realize that we have received the help we needed at the time. This knowledge often comes to us when we are in Avala, the resting place between lives. (See books by Dr. Michael Newton and Dr. Brian Weiss).

All in all, I have learned that Trust comes and Love follows. Relationships are a two-way street. I have benefited, greatly, from coming to know and experience the Janati and I try to honor them, in return. I believe that their Virtues form the Pathway to Heaven.

Let us bless the Holy One.

Blessed is She.

Let us thank the Seven Janati of Déa.

Thanks be to the Seven Janati.

Thus it is and thus may it be.

Tree Nuts of Wisdom + Apple Seeds of Life

Dear devotees and friends,

I have been researching and contemplating the Madrian tree correspondences of the Geniae/Janati/Janae. Fascinating facts about the hazel tree assigned to Titanide Metis: “The Hazel (Corylus avellana) is one of the very oldest British native trees.” [1] “In 1995, evidence of large-scale Mesolithic nut processing, some 9,000 years old, was found in a midden pit on the island of Colonsay in Scotland. The evidence consists of a large, shallow pit full of the remains of hundreds of thousands of burned hazelnut shells. Hazelnuts have been found on other Mesolithic sites, but rarely in such quantities or concentrated in one pit. The nuts were radiocarbon dated to 7720+/-110BP, which calibrates to circa 6000 BC. Similar sites in Britain are known only at Farnham in Surrey and Cass ny Hawin on the Isle of Man.” [2] “Hazel is monoecious, meaning that both male and female flowers are found on the same tree, although hazel flowers must be pollinated by pollen from other hazel trees. … once pollinated by wind, the female flowers develop into oval fruits, which hang in groups of one to four. They mature into a nut with a woody shell surrounded by a cup of leafy bracts (modified leaves).” [3]

“Interestingly, in modern times the hazelnut has proven itself to be a brain food. Pound for pound the hazelnut have [has] double the protein, and good fats than eggs, making them natural nourishment for brain function.” [4 & 5] These are known on the American continent as cobnuts.

3 Samhain/Nov. 2

Day of Sai Sushuri, Fountain of Compassion, Love and Mercy.

Fall for Déanists, (those of the Déanic religion), is a time of Apples and the Cosmos, Seeds and Order, Harmony and Earth.

The Apple is the Sacred Symbol for Fall. And Fall is ruled over by Sai Thema, who is the Foundation of Justice, Order and Harmony, both Cosmic and Earthly. It is the Twilight Season, where seeds fall to the ground, preceding their long rest during the Midnight Season of Winter.

Apples have always figured greatly in myths, from the Apple of Eden (which was a gift, not a conveyor of the curse of original sin); to the apple given to the goddess, Hera as a sign of her fertility; to the apples of Avalon, they have had significant part impact on mythological lore. We find them in Greek, Christian, Nordic, Celtic and biblical myths, just to name a few.

 (A)

The apples of Avalon, for example, were said to impart wisdom and immortality. Not only are apples a symbol of wisdom and knowledge, but they were also often associated with Paradise. They are an especial symbol of the Divine Feminine. (1)

 (Sophia by Pamela Matthews).

Gnosticism teaches that it was the Daughter of Sophia, Zoe-Eve who offered the Apple of Wisdom. The Apple of Her Mother containing the Seeds of Life.

Adam was the dramatic embodiment of psyche, or soul, while Eve stood for the pneuma, or spirit. Soul, to the Gnostics, meant the embodiment of the emotional and thinking functions of the personality, while spirit represented the human capacity for spiritual consciousness. The former was the lesser self (the ego of depth psychology), the latter the transcendental function, or the “higher self,” as it is sometimes known. Obviously, Eve, then, is by nature superior to Adam, rather than his inferior as implied by orthodoxy.

Sophia sent Zoe, Her daughter, who is called “Eve,” as an instructor in order that she might raise up Adam, in whom there is no spiritual soul so that those whom he could beget might also become vessels of light. When Eve saw her companion, who was so much like her, in his cast down condition she pitied him, and she exclaimed: “Adam, live! Rise up upon the earth!” Immediately her words produced a result for when Adam rose up, right away he opened his eyes. When he saw her, he said:  “You will be called ‘mother of the living’, because you are the one who gave me life.” (2)

Zoe also enters the serpent and offers the Apple of Wisdom.

In the Gnostic mythos, Zoe-Eve is the Divine Daughter come down to Earth. In this way, Zoe-Eve is truly our Soteria. Sent by Her Mother, She descends down through the realms. She brings us Her Mother’s Life. She shares with us Her Mother’s Wisdom. She offers to us Her Mother’s Knowledge. We do not have to be Gnostic or study all the Gnostic myths in order to believe in Zoe-Eve. She is a most appropriate Form/Image for the Holy Daughter. In Gnostic and other forms of Christianity, She is the Holy Daughter. As handed down from the Madrians, Eve’s secret Name has special significance for our priestesses during the Communion Rite of our liturgy.

The Roma refer to the five seeds which form the pentagram inside the apple as the Star of Knowledge.

The pentagram, the microcosm for the human body. The point-up pentagram represents spirit ascending above matter while the point down represents spirit descending into matter. As a whole, it represents the interconnectedness of the Five Supernal Elements with human life. Unfortunately, over time, the pentagram, especially with the point down has come to represent evil and negative groups.

So, the Apple, within which are the seeds of the microcosmic human, represents the ‘womb’ of Life (Our Celestial Mother Mari). And it represents Our Divine Mother Herself, She Who, through Her Daughter, gives humans life (represented by Adam) and offers them Wisdom, Knowledge and the promise of Divine Life.

Seeds are amazing, when we really stop to think about them.  This occurs, in one way or another, throughout Nature. A small seed may grow into a mighty tree, a stunning flower of perfection or …a human being. A seed is a small embryonic plant enclosed in a covering called the seed coat, usually with some stored food. (Science Daily).Inside every seed are the basic parts of a fully formed plant: immature roots and tiny leaves curled up like a vegetal embryo. (Smithsonian).

I never knew this. I never really stopped to think about what is actually inside a seed that sprouts forth such miracles of Nature. So, seeds are a tiny version of the plant, itself, along with some food for nourishment and a protective coating. Stunningly, some seeds have been known to still be viable after thousands of years! Mother Nature does her best to protect Life.

All is Life. Quantum science has shown that solid matter truly is an illusion. Life itself is a miracle. It is diverse. It is beautiful. It is strong. It is enduring. It survives against all odds.

Now scientists are finding out that some (if not many) seeds come to us from asteroids and space dust! Imagine that… some of the plants and even animal life on this planet may have come from other planets! Imagine, these seeds are still viable after travelling through the deep cold, the radiation-saturated vastness of space!

The Cosmos is breathtakingly beautiful and filled with Life! Many are coming to understand that the entire Cosmos is Alive. Put in your own search: is the Universe alive? or try Scientists think the universe is conscious and you will discover some very interesting articles!

Everything is living. How exciting when we look up at the stars and the planets knowing that everything is truly connected and one of the ways it is all connected is through the sharing of seeds, the carrier of life throughout the Cosmos.

The Apple of Wisdom is Our Heavenly Mother. She sends Her Holy Daughter to Earth with the seeds of Life through the Five Elements. The Holy Daughter carries the Divine Breath of Spirit to humanity and so brings us Life.

O, Dea, Apple of Wisdom, we adore you, we magnify you and we glorify you.

Blessed are You.

O, Agia Rhea, be with us. Blessed are You.

Setpena to Agia Thea:

(Say for seven days).

O, Glorious Agia Theia, brightly shining One, be with us. O, Resplendent One, clothed in radiant gold, dazzling as the Sun, hear our prayer.

Illumine us with Truth and instil in us the sweetness which comes with a serene mind and a joy-filled heart. Help us to remember that joy comes from within and not from without. May we learn to nurture it in our hearts that it may overflow unto others who might be in need of the flame of cheer and comfort in their lives. And may (state request).

Today, as part of our series on the correlations of Divine Sophia and our Clear Recital scriptures, we are going to take a moment to discover the relationship between Sophia and the Seven Janae.

At the end of this article is a very exciting discovery, a lengthy article showing my own thealogy that the Holy Spirit is Seven-fold.

Holy Sophia is associated with the Divine Seven in different ways.  In Gnosticism, She emanates/creates the Seven Feminine Aeons;  in the book of Proverbs, She sends out her Seven Virgin Handmaidens and She has hewn out the Seven Pillars and as the Holy Spirit in Christianity, Who is more appropriately called Mother Spirit as in ancient times, She sends forth the Seven Rays of the Gifts.

Image result for image of holy sophia and the seven planetary powers

In Gnosticism, Sophia is the Ruler of the Seven Planetary Powers, however, these Powers are Archons. (i.e. not the good guys) and in Gnostic cosmology, Sophia triumphs over them and becomes Ruler over the Seven Spheres.

In her book, Sophia, Goddess of Wisdom, Bride of God, author and scholar, Caitlin Matthews includes a picture of an unusual statue of Sophia made of rosewood where She is holding a seven pointed star. This sculpture based upon a vision or apparition that was experienced by the artist, Bryce Muir.  This star signifies Her overcoming of the seven planetary Archons and Her rising to become the Mother of the Ogdoad or Eighth Realm. Ms. Matthews goes on to state that “the Descents of Sophia, like the Seven-fold Descent of Inanna to the Underworld, pass through all levels of experience making Sophia a potent Companion to all souls.”

Similar to the Titans, which inform the Seven Janyati, these Aeons were male and female. The Female Aeons are: Rejoicing; Blessedness; Love; Peace; Gladness; Truth and Faith. Like the Janae, these Seven Aeons are both Divine, having emanated from Holy Sophia and They are also angelic in Being.

In some (though not all) Gnostic texts, Aeons are often referred to as being androgynous. A better way to think of them is that they are ‘twin souls’.  We must remember that there are many different cosmologies in Gnosticism and various belief systems as well. While some Gnostics understood the Aeons to be androgynous, others thought of them as Primordial Ideas, while still others believed they were syzygies or ‘yoked pairs’, the latter being the Janite point of view.  They are Light Beings and are sometimes likened to angels. And so, similar to the Deanic/Filianic teachings on the Janae, they are both Divine and angelic.

Moving on to Proverbs, the Divine Sophia has sent out Her Seven Virgins or Handmaidens and has ‘hewn out Her Seven Pillars”.

Now, keep in mind, when Wisdom is personified in the biblical texts, we capitalize the W. Wisdom personified is Sophia. When wisdom is not being personified, we do not capitalize the first letter.

In this particular text, Wisdom is personified. Wisdom, Sophia, sends out Her Handmaidens to invite everyone to Her feast of wisdom. Ms. Matthews states, that the Handmaidens are the assessors of Wisdom.

It would not be until the Middle Ages when they would be transformed into the Daughters of Sophia and an English cleric, Alcuin (735-804 AD) would associate the Seven Pillars with the Seven Liberal Arts.

Image result for image of portail royal door at chartres black virgin and seven female liberal arts

These Handmaidens are depicted on the right-hand doorway of the Portail Royal at Chartres. The central figure is the Black Virgin of Wisdom, the Virgin Mary being surrounded by the Seven Handmaidens representing the Liberal Arts. As Albert the Great taught that Mary, herself was the possessor of the Seven Liberal Arts. Elsewhere, Ms. Matthews explains that the Seven Pillars have also been conflated with h the Seven Liberal Arts, the seven days of the week, the seven heavens and the Holy Spirit .

As we can see, there is a correlation between each of the Seven Liberal Arts and the Janae, Themselves.

Grammar/Moon/Agia Candre.

Rhetoric/Venus/Agia Grace/ Sushuri

Music/Sun/Agia Theia/ Raya

Geometry/Jupiter/Agia Thame’

Astronomy/Saturn/Agia Rhea/ Rhave.

The purification of the soul, through the seven planetary experiences, was common to many cultures and traditions. (Sophia, Goddess of Wisdom and Bride of God).

So, here we have Seven Handmaidens of Sophia and the Seven Pillars of Wisdom. We will revisit these Seven Handmaidens when we study the correlation of Divine Sophia as our High Priestess.

Now, we look at the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. Sophia is the Holy Spirit both pre- Christian and Christian.

The Seven Planetary Powers of Pagan Tradition become the seven gifts of the Spirit in Christianity: Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety (Faith) and Fear of God (nowadays this is rendered as Awe)….(Sophia, Goddess of Wisdom and Bride of God).  (Caps and comments are mine. A. M. Candra Sophia).

This amazes me. I had already correlated the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit with the Seven Janae before I had read this.

Ms. Matthews, in her above-mentioned book, does a fine job of showing forth Sophia as the Holy Spirit. The Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit are often referred to as individual spirits, the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord, etc.

The New Testament speaks about The Seven Spirits of God. In Rev., these Seven Spirits are also known as the Seven Lamps which are before the throne of God. And it talks about ‘He who has the Seven Spirits of God.” This is a much neglected concept within Christianity probably due to the fact that it would call into question the theology of the Trinity and yet, these Seven Spirits of God are mentioned a few times in the New Testament.

Again, I was blown away by the following article which came to the same conclusion as did I: http://www.lasan.org/lasan-readings/english/holy-spirit/seven-holy-spirit-gifts.htm and that is, the Seven Spirits of the Holy Spirit. This article refers to the Holy Spirit as “he”, but the Holy Spirit is the Mother Spirit, Dea Madria, Mari Sophia.

The above mentioned article expertly disproves the various theories about the identity of the Seven Spirits. The author even mentions the Three-Fold Spirits of Heaven and the Four-fold Spirits of Earth…. Deanic teaching right there of the Janae!!!!

The author begins his summary thusly: It is erroneous to argue that the seven Spirits are seven angels, and it is insufficient to claim that the title the seven Spirits refers to the Spirit of God merely in a general way. It is not even adequate to assert that the seven Spirits are the Spirit of God in the fullness or completeness of His energies or operation. The title the seven Spirits, like all appellations of the Spirit, unveils something very particular concerning the divine Spirit.

While quite lengthy, this is a remarkable article and it is highly recommended as one of  the ways of understanding the Janae.

Image result for image of the Divine Sophia

In summary,  Divine Sophia is the Ruler of the Planetary Powers; She emanates the Seven Feminine Aeons; She sends out Her Seven Handmaidens and hews out the Seven Pillars of Wisdom which have variously been identified, as Ms. Matthews explains, with the Seven Liberal Arts, the seven days of the week, the seven heavens and the Holy Spirit and finally, She is the Seven-Fold Holy Spirit, Who, as Caitlyn Matthews so beautifully depicts in her book, holds the Seven Spirits in Her lap as Doves, ready to be sent out into the world.

I would like to conclude with this prayer to the Janae by Sorella Roselyn.  With her permission, I shall be adding it to our Aurora prayers (morning prayers).

Med-Moura The Feast of the Trinitarian Janae of Spirit

14 Moura / March 5

Lunadi/Monday

~

O, Madria Candra, Madria Theia and Madria Rhea, be with us.

May the Pure Stream of Your Virtues flow within me, in this world and in all the worlds to come. Blessed are They.

~

Déa has Seven Faces, Seven Powers, Seven Living Streams. Today, we celebrate and honor three of Them.

So today we look at Their correspondences, take on Their virtues, devotionally recite Their prayers and mantras under our menu Seven Great Janae. Devotees serve a Rite of Sacrifice, Deaconesses and Priestesses serve a Liturgy. The candles on the altar (which should be object blessed) and the veil/hat that we wear during formal prayer and ritual should be either black or indigo [1]. (Keep in mind, the liturgical colors are the colors of the robes of the Janae. These are colors that are symbolic of Who They Are in Their Spiritual Essence.) The Moura altar cloth is the elemental seasonal color of violet. This can be a doily, hankey/handkerchief, table cloth. (Which should be object blessed). This is the only day during Moura when flowers are permitted on an altar in honor of the Trinitarian Janae of Spirit.

I am Theia, the Orange Ray of Illumination. I am the Brilliant Light of the Supernal Sun.

The Three-Fold Heaven is where I reign and it is Spirit that I guard.

Come to me when you are in need of enlightenment and I will open your mind.

Learn of me the Diamonds of Joy and Benevolence and these shall be returned unto you, three-fold.

Seek me when you have sadness and are not able to perceive the joy in life and I shall uplift you.

Lend your downtrodden heart to me and I will return it to you overflowing with gladness.

I am Theia.

Madria Theia is the Face and Power of Dea Madria, our Divine Celestial Mother God. She, like the Holy Mother, is Brilliant Light. She is the Power of the Supernal Sun. She is Illumination and She illumines. She is all Joy with the promise of Eternal Bliss. Heaven shines through Her; its rays touch us, lightly. She is our Sun and our family’s Sun. She is the Light and Center of our life. She is the Power of Light. She is the Face of Radiance. She is the Divine Prism of the Resplendence of the Mother. She is with us every day and in every way. The charge of Madria Theia, is that we emit joy from our hearts in our everyday lives and mindfully strive to live a joy-filled day. When we radiate joy, we become joy. We are the reflection of the Sun of Dea on Earth. On Sunnadi, we honor Madria Theia and practice Her Virtues.

I am Candra, the Violet Ray of Purity. I am the Brightness of the Supernal Moon.

The Three-Fold Heaven is where I reign and it is Spirit that I guard.

Come to me when you are in need of forgiveness and I will cleanse your heart.

Learn of me the Moonstones of Reflection and Reason and you shall be guided, always.

Those who are my priestesses, do naught without me; act only through me.

I shall transmute the Graces Divine through you unto the world and make of you a Living Prayer.

I am Candra.

From the Seven Jeweled Rays copyright of ArchMadria Candra Sophia

Madria Candra is the Face and Power of the Holy Daughter. She is the Reflection of Her Purity and She imparts to us, the Holy Daughter’s Reason. She is the Power of Priestesshood and She is the Mistress of priestesses. Silver rays fall from Her hands, imbuing the soul of the priestess, the deaconess, the sister, with the secrets of the Mystery, that which is intuited by the feminine heart, but cannot be put into words. The Moonlit magick that is not spells, but Nature and Pure. That which draws us to the Moon and is tied to Water. That which fill us and overflows us, within and without, is that which only our souls can understand. We are Her handmaidens. The charge of Madria Candra is that we always remember, are always mindful of who we are and how we have been marked, in Her service, with every step we tred; with every act we make; and with every word we speak. As priestesses, deaconesses and sisters, we look to Madria Candra as our mentor. In the priestesshood, we are Her handmaidens who channel the Holy Daughter through liturgy and grace. We are a reflection of the Moon of Dea on Earth. On Lunadi, we honor Her and practice Her Virtues.

I am Rhea, the Indigo Ray of Steadfastness. I am the Fore-bearing Stream of the Supernal Cosmos.

The Three-Fold Heaven is where I reign and it is Spirit that I guard.

Come to me when you are in need of fortitude and resolve and I shall grant you strength of will.

Learn of me the Lapis of Temperance and Self-restraint and you shall conquer the world.

Whenever you are filled with self-doubt, I shall inspire you with confidence and earnestness.

If fear diminishes determination, I shall inspire you with perseverance and certainty of purpose and never lead you astray.

I am Rhea.

From the Seven Jeweled Rays copyright of ArchMadria Candra Sophia

Madria Rhea is the Face and Power of the Great Mother. She, like the Great Mother, is Dark beyond the light and Light beyond the Darkness. (From our liturgies). She is a Reflection of Mystery, Mysteria, She Who is the Great Mother. And yet, She is not distant; She is not unapproachable. In fact, She is the closest one, in a way. The Grandmother. The One Who loves you unconditionally and with Whom you feel the most comfortable. She is so Ancient, it is hard to fathom Her in your young eyes and mind, and yet, Her Great Maternal love envelops you and encompasses you. It’s ok that you don’t understand Her; She understands you. Do not fear to approach Her, She Who is the Ancient of Days, the Time before Dawn. Her planet, Saturn, means ‘to sow’. She is the Beginning; She is the Gardener;, She sows the Seeds of Life, the Sacred Apple Seeds of all the Living. These Seeds takes root in the Garden of All Being, the Holy Mother, the Matrix of Life. The Seed is given birth and is enveloped in a Soul by the Holy Daughter. Madria Rhea is the Great Mother’s Face, Her Power. She is our very beginning. She knows us more intimately than we know ourselves. She is not destruction; She is Life. Destruction is a natural part of physical life, but it has no reality in the Realm beyond this realm. Life, though, life is eternal. We are a reflection of the Saturn of Dea on Earth. On Foradi, we honor Her and practice Her Virtues.

Primordial Pre Patriarchal Sophia and Creatrix Eurynome

28 Brighid / Feb. 19

Lunadi or Moon Day. (Monday).

Day of Madria Candra.

To our friends and devotees,

Sorry, this article may be rather clumsily constructed, as I am still so excited by this news.

It is in 2 sections. Section 1 is the most recent find by ArchMadria Candra Sophia. The connection between primordial pre-patriarchal Sophia and prehistoric Eurynome (pronounced euren AW mee) meaning “Wide-Ruling” and why this is so significant to the Déanic Order of Kore Di-Jana a.k.a. Janites.

Section 2 is background information for those unfamiliar with the Pelasgian first nation peoples of the Aegean Sea region in Europe and the Creation Myth of Eurynome which includes the Seven Planetary Powers. This is yet another patriarchal demotion of the Divine Feminine. Credited with thanks to ArchMatrona Ghrian of the Lucienne tradition
https://deamatronablog.wordpress.com

May Déa as Matrix & Creatrix, Genetrix and Soteria ever be centring us in Her,

Madrina Sophia

Section 1

Pre Patriarchal Sophia as a True Universal Goddess

Unknown Artist. Sophia is the central pivot of creation and represents the feminine aspect in all things.

Sophia is a pre-Greek goddess, and also a Christian goddess, which goes to show that She is truly a Universal Goddess. Bridgid, Herself, is both a Pagan Goddess and one of the most important Christian saints in the Catholic Church.
A Church, that we must admit, is worldwide. So She, who was once a Primary Celtic goddess, became a worldwide saint.
Therefore, Bridgid is also a True Universal Goddess because She, like Sophia, is revered in both the Pagan and Christian worlds.
In my personal opinion, perhaps this renders Bridgid and Sophia as two of the most Universal Forms of Dea on Earth. [1]

Déanic Myth of Creation

We view the Myth of Creation and the Myth of the Divine Maid/ Daughter as sacred, inspiring stories which use various sources to speak of a perennial Mystery. The scriptures are based, in part, upon the Pelasgian Mythos, the Myth of Persephone and Demeter, the Christian Mysteries and the Passion mythos of Inanna, although I think most would agree that the goddess of sex and war is not a suitable Image/Form for the Most Pure Holy Daughter. These mythos were never meant to be taken literally. Rather, they are human stories which speak of a Sacred Cosmic Drama which takes place out of time. [2]

Pre Patriarchal Sophia as Celestial Mother Genetrix of ALL & Soteria Holy Daughter

This is such a revelatory article, uncovering “the original blueprint” / pre-patriarchal Sophia similarities to Eurynome. Pre-patriarchal Sophia who is the basis of the Sophia Déanic Order of Kore Di-Jana a.k.a. Janites as Holy Daughter. She is also confirmed in a pagan context as Eurynome – Celestial Mother Genetrix of ALL creation. [3a] Including the Seven Great Janae – the Supernal Genetrixes, Guardians or Wellsprings of the Seven Streams of Life or Virtue. They are the Seven Faces/Powers/Spirits of Dea, Our Divine Mother God, in rarefied angelic light form. [3b]

As ArchMadria Candra Sophia stated “I can’t begin to explain how reading this has unified the Christian Goddess in whom I strongly believe, with the very Goddess [Eurynome] whose myth underlies the foundation of Filianism. Like the floor safe built into the foundation.”

Do read the whole article, only an extract is reproduced here.

The Pagan Origins of the Gnostic Sophia

by Miguel Conner | Jul 26, 2016

QUOTE
The Primordial Sophia

The original blueprint for the Gnostic Sophia is located in one of the earliest creation stories (older even than Genesis): The Pelasgian Creation Myth.

In this narrative, a divine being named Eurynome descends from the void and fashions the cosmos from the chaos. Creation is ushered by her dance upon the primordial waters, resulting in the formation of the planets, stars and elements into actuality. She also conceives a godlike serpent named Ophion. Eurynome and Ophion engage in a second, more seductive dance that ends in copulation. She then transforms into a dove and hovers over the sea, eventually laying a massive egg. Ophion coils around the egg seven times until it is hatched and all living creatures come forth. Eurynome sets a male and female Titan to overlook each heaven.
Eurynome and Ophion rule over creation in harmony, until the serpent claims he is the sole supreme being of the universe. This causes Eurynome to wage war against Ophion and ultimately banish him into the depths of the earth. In the end, she finds herself alone atop of the cosmos, yearning for another like her to keep her company.

At first glance, the Pelasgian Creation Myth appears like another dramatic, Greek account of how reality came to be. However, a deeper look reveals a proto-Sophia in the character of Eurynome:

► Sophia is cast into the chaos from an undivided nothingness (The Secret Book of John, On the Origin of the World). The Gnostic Valentinians referred to the fundamental principles of consciousness, the primaeval Father and Mother, as Bythos and Sege (Abyss and Silence in Greek). They represented a state of ultimate, undivided existence, similar to where Eurynome originated from.

► Sophia is responsible for the conception of matter (The Valentinian Cosmology, The Secret Book of John). Like Eurynome, she moves back and forth over the primordial waters, as well as gives birth to a serpent-like monster (Sophia’s offspring was called Yaldabaoth, often associated with the Old Testament God).

► Sophia is symbolized as a dove in Gnosticism. The Acts of Thomas proclaims, “Come, she that manifests the hidden things and makes the unspeakable things plain, the holy dove.” As her aspect of Wisdom/Shekinah in the Old Testament, Sophia is referred to as a dove (Song of Solomon 1:15, Song of Solomon 5:2). The symbol would be later adopted by Christianity in the form of the Holy Spirit, although both the Shekinah and Sophia were also recognized as the Holy Spirit.

► Sophia’s offspring rebels against her, claiming to be the only Supreme Being (The Secret Book of John, The Hypostasis of the Archons). The Hypostasis of the Archons relates how Yaldabaoth “because of his power and his ignorance and is arrogance he said, with his power, ‘It is I who am God; there is none apart from me.’ When he said this, he sinned against the entirety.” In The Pelasgian Creation Myth, the serpent Ophion “vexed Eurynome by claiming to be the author of the Universe.”

► In her higher avatar of Barbelo, Sophia assigns a male and female pair of Aeons to each of the layers of the mind of God (The Secret Book of John). Eurynome does the same, albeit with Titans ruling over the planetary spheres.

► In virtually all Gnostic texts, Sophia finds herself yearning for another like her once she lingers in the manifest Unlike the open-ended story of Eurynome, Jesus Christ comes to her like a saving knight or lost friend.

It should be noted that The Pelasgian Creation Myth is also a foundation for the Book of Genesis. Eurynome is responsible for naming all the creatures of Earth, as was Adam. The serpent in both myths plays the antagonist role (however, the serpent is often associated with wisdom goddesses in Paganism, and is frequently a positive figure in Gnosticism). During the conflict between Eurynome and Ophion, she “bruised his head with her heel.” In Genesis 3:15, the seed of Eve is prophesized to bruise the head the serpent with her heel, which has been taken as the coming of Jesus Christ to redeem the world from Satan.”

Section 2

Who were the Pelasgians?

A fantastic view of Dodona, (where Dione meaning Divine One had Her oracle, perhaps the centre of the Pelasgians.

The Histories of Herodotus is considered one of the seminal works of history in Western literature. Written from the 450s to the 420s BC in the Ionic dialect of classical Greek. The Histories were at some point divided into the nine books of modern editions.

The Cynurians and Achaeans were Pelasgians

Book 8 – URANIA

[8.73] Seven nations inhabit the Peloponnese. Two of them are aboriginal, and still continue in the regions where they dwelt at the first – to wit, the Arcadians and the Cynurians. A third, that of the Achaeans, has never left the Peloponnese, but has been dislodged from its own proper country, and inhabits a district which once belonged to others.

The Arcadians were Pelasgians

Book 2 – EUTERPE

[2.171] On this lake it is that the Egyptians represent by night his sufferings whose name I refrain from mentioning, and this representation they call their Mysteries. I know well the whole course of the proceedings in these ceremonies, but they shall not pass my lips. So too, with regard to the mysteries of Ceres, which the Greeks term “the Thesmophoria,” I know them, but I shall not mention them, except so far as may be done without impiety. The daughters of Danaus brought these rites from Egypt, and taught them to the Pelasgic women of the Peloponnese. Afterwards, when the inhabitants of the peninsula were driven from their homes by the Dorians, the rites perished. Only in Arcadia, where the natives remained and were not compelled to migrate, their observance continued. [4a]

~and~

Virgil (Aeneid, VIII, V. 62-63), writes:
“It is said that the first dwellers of our Italy were the Pelasgians”.
From the ancient authors we have learned that before the arrival of the Greeks, those territories were known as Pelasgia, the several sources inform to us moreover, than the Greeks learned from the Pelasgians not only the art of the working of the metals, of the construction of walls, but they learned, improving it, their way of writing and made their divinity their own.
Several populations, species the pelasgic one, have given to the country their name. [4b]

~and~

Aegean Sea

The name Pelasgians (Greek: Πελασγοί, Pelasgoí; singular: Πελασγός, Pelasgós) was used by some ancient Greek writers to refer to populations that were either the ancestors of the Greeks or preceded the Greeks in Greece, “a hold-all term for any ancient, primitive and presumably indigenous people in the Greek world”. In general, “Pelasgian” has come to mean more broadly all the indigenous inhabitants of the Aegean Sea region and their cultures before the advent of the Greek language.

In 1955, Robert Graves in his mythography The Greek Myths claims that the Pelasgian creation myth involves a singular creatrix goddess who dominates humans and predates other deities. The goddess gives birth to all things, fertilised not by any male opposite, but by symbolic seeds in the form of the wind, beans, or insects. [4c]

Comment by ArchMatrona Ghrian of the Lucienne tradition https://deamatronablog.wordpress.com : “In its original, matriarchal version, it was probably a beautiful story”.

Déanic Scriptural links to Eurynome

1. The Creation

1:1. Before and beyond all things is the Mistress of All Things, and when nothing was, She was. 2. And having no solid place that Her feet might rest upon, She divided the sea from the sky, and made a dance of solitary splendour upon the crested deeps.

2:1. But one there was that had not been shaped by Her, and that was not Her daughter, nor a creature of spirit. But this was the space between the fragments and the nothingness that had been before things were. It had not energy nor delight, but only weight. It had not shape, but could only coil and uncoil itself about the things that were. It was the Snake, and was not silver, but black. 2.
The Snake hated all things that had become, and hated the separation of the waters and the sky. It hated light and energy, desiring all to be darkness and nothingness.

2:15. But the Mistress of All Things saw this and descended to the earth, placing Her heel upon the head of the Snake and bruising it.

3:3. And She set Her seven Powers in the firmament, giving one to rule each colour of the earth.

The Mythos of the Divine Maid

1:1. When the first night had come upon the world, the Mistress of All Things stood alone once more, as She had in the beginning. 2. For a terrible abyss had opened to lie between the world and She, and Her creatures could not look upon Her brightness.

3. And She stood in contemplation upon the waters of the first darkness; like a great Dove upon the waters She brooded. 4. And She became absorbed within Her and communed with Her own Self; and Her light ceased to shine forth from Her, and yet Her light grew greater. 5. And She fell to Her knees. And the surface of the waters became turbulent, and the great waves curled over Her, and their white foam could not be seen in all that darkness.

6. And when the waters became calm again, the Mistress of All Things rose to Her feet. 7. For She had conceived a Daughter that was not separate from Her, but one with Her, and the child of Her Light.

Pelasgian Creation Myth – the earliest in Europe

Eurynome with Moon by Korean Manwha artist named Hong Eun-Young. She designed beautiful manwha characters based on Ancient Greek and Roman mythology.
https://www.pinterest.co.uk/jacklee26/hongs-classical-mythology/

Eurynome was easily the most important Goddess of Pelasgian myth. She was the Great Goddess, Mother, Creatrix, Ruler, called the Goddess of All Things.

Eurynome was born from Chaos, and her first work was to separate the water from the sky. When she had accomplished this, she began to dance across the water. It was a beautiful, sensual dance of creation. [6]

Dove sat on the world egg artist unknown

She assumed the form of a dove, brooding on the waves and, in due process of time, laid the Universal Egg. [7]

Out tumbled all things that exist, her children: sun, moon, planets, stars, the earth with its mountains and rivers, its trees, herbs, and living creatures. [7]

Patriarchal Demotion of the Divine Feminine

Myth version 2 introduces a male spouse

Eurynome by Hrana Janto

Catching the north wind at her back and rubbing it between her hands, she warms the pneuma and spontaneously generates the
serpent Ophion, who mates with her. [6]

Eurynome’s husband Ophion “the Serpent” & Eurynome wife of Ophion [13]

Greek Pelasgian Creation Myth by jessicasroux

At her bidding, Ophion coiled seven times about this egg, until it hatched and split in two. Out tumbled all things that exist, her children: sun, moon, planets, stars, the earth with its mountains and rivers, its trees, herbs, and living creatures. [6]

Comment by ArchMatrona Ghrian of the Lucienne tradition https://deamatronablog.wordpress.com  : Furthermore, instead of sitting on the Cosmic Egg herself, [like a normal, mother bird would do], Eurynome tells Ophion, the male snake, to wrap himself around it, [as snakes do their eggs] and warm it and hatch it.

Myth version 3

The male spouse attempts to usurp.

Eurynome and Ophion made their home upon Mount Olympus, where he vexed her by claiming to be the author of the Universe.
Forthwith she bruised his head with her heel, kicked out his teeth, and banished him to the dark caves below the earth. [6]

In the soil of Arcadia the Pelasgians spring up from Ophion’s teeth, scattered under the heel of Eurynome, who kicked the serpent from their home on Mount Olympus for his boast of having created all things. [7]

Eurynome crushes ophion by dkpalmer (on deviantart)

Myth 4

Her daughter and son banish their parents.

Pseudo-Apollodorus, Bibliotheca 1. 503 ff (trans. Aldrich) (Greek mythographer C2nd A.D.) :
“He [Orpheus] sang of . . . How, in the beginning, Ophion and Eurynome, daughter of Okeanos (Oceanus), governed the world from
snow-clad Olympos; how they were forcibly supplanted, Ophion by Kronos (Cronus), Eurynome by Rhea; of their fall into the waters
of Okeanos.” [7]

Myth 5

Comment by ArchMatrona Ghrian of the Lucienne tradition https://deamatronablog.wordpress.com : “And still later, another goddess by the same name, Eurynome, the Oceanide, ends up as one of the many wives of, Zeus, and the mother of the Graces.

Patriarchal redactors have rewritten all three stories about Eurynome:  She is pictured as a female-failure in need of a male-savior, just like the Gnostic Sophia.  Eurynome is portrayed as a failed wife [divorced and estranged from Ophion, the snake], failed Queen of Heaven, Creatrix and Mother of the Gods [because She is not powerful enough to punish, and banish Her ungrateful and rebellious children].  It is only later when She becomes the wife of Her grandson, the male god, i.e.,  Zeus, the Son of God, that she is redeemed and becomes the mother of the Graces.”

Myth 6 – A male Demon

Found whilst composing this article, male dominance cannot stoop any lower. Taking the Mother God and inverting Her Purity, Power and Divinity.

The Demon Eurynome from the illustrated The Dictionnaire Infernal by Jacques Auguste Simon Collin de Plancy, 1863 edition, which included sixty-nine illustrations by Louis Le Breton depicting the appearances of several of the demons. [14]

I have traced the cover artwork from The Coming Age periodical, Issue 5, 1977
This is the white skin coloured version.
I plan to produce brown, black and yellow tones.
It is altered and my copyright but as long as this is not used for profit, I am happy for it to be shared.
I have chosen old gold for Mother Mari’s holy halo, stars and head veil symbolising Her as supernal Sun. Her blue dress symbolising sky and Heaven. Her indigo shoes symbolising Mysteria the Dark Mother. The Star of Hope a blue silver for our Holy Daughter. See: https://deanic.com/2017/11/29/the-triple-stars-of-dea-filia-at-adoria/ Her dress is green for regeneration.
(Their hair colour has no significance being merely a contrast to all the gold).
