Bits and Pieces/Music of the Spheres/Janati/geniae

8 Vespera/Aug. 15

Music of the Spheres/Janati/geniae/Odin’s Cross vs Celtic Fora/Altar set up.

Great Dove of the Waters, Rose of the World, Help us to aspire to the heart of the flame.

You are the Music of the Spheres, You are the Meaning of all words, You are the end of every road and also its beginning.

Help us to know You. (From the Madrian Rite of Sacrifice.)

20) Yet, within the seed is the essence of a tree, and from the seed, the whole tree may unfold. 21) So, from essential Truth unfoldeth all other knowledge as the music of the spheres unfoldeth from a single note. (From The Seed of Truth, vs 20 and 21).

The Music of the Spheres, the idea of which originated with the renowned mathematician and philosopher, Pythagoras, (1) also has a place within our religion. It represents the sublime harmony of Creation or, as in the Lucienne Tradition (Lady of Light Chantry), it represents the Oran Mor or the Great Melody of Creation. {See this beautiful article (2)}.

Astoundingly, and yet, perhaps not too surprisingly, scientists have found proof of this heavenly music; they found that the Music of the Spheres, of the stars and of the planets is real!  To listen to the Music of  the Spheres, please see the articles under :(3-5)

Janati/geniae in the Janite Tradition.

The Seven Living, Intelligent Streams of Dea, Who are the planetary powers or the rulers of the planets, were originally known, by the Madrians, as Geniae, plural or Genia/singular. It was later that the Geniae became known, through Filianism, as the Janyati.

Because the ‘y’ has a special meaning that is not relevant or appropriate for Janites, we spell it as it is in Sanskrit: Janati for the plural and Jana for the singular.

Aside from the Seven Who are Living Streams of Dea in angelic form, there were also lesser geniae/janati, who were considered to be the ‘daughters’ of the Seven.

In the Janite Tradition, these lesser geniae/janya are not considered to be the daughters of the Janati per se, but they are considered to be divine beings in angelic form. To differentiate them from the Seven Janati, we refer to them as geniae (with a lower case g). We give them the title of Lady as opposed to Madria/Mother as with the Janati.

The geniae of the Janite Tradition are:

Lady Annya: genia of fire, the reflection of the Sun.

Lady Chara: genia of joy

Lady Charis: genia of beauty, splendour, glory and adornment.

Lady Herthe’: genia of hearth and home.

Lady Kala: genia. She is the cutter of fate. (The three fates are said to be a reflection of the Holy Trinity on manifest plane of flux and change. (Gospel of Our Mother God.)

Lady Maia: genia. She is the spinner of fate.

Lady Ouranya: genia of the sky.

Lady Thalia: genia of blossoms. (Also known as Anthea).

Lady Vaya: genia of wind spirit or spirit of breath.

Lady Werde’: genia. She is the weaver of fate.

The feast day of the geniae, which included the Janati in the Madrian religion was held on Dec. 25, as their date of Nativity differed from that of the Filianists. The Janites assign individual feast days for the Seven Janati according to Their Season. And so, the feast day for the geniae shall be celebrated on 1 Maia/April 18.

‘Odin’s Cross’ vs Celtic Knot Cross

It is absolutely reprehensible when hate groups misappropriate sacred symbols as being symbolic of hate, genocide and racism such as the Nazi swastika which was and still is a symbol of great holiness within Hinduism. The very word, swastika comes from the Sanskrit word, svastika which means, good fortune. It was first used in Neolithic Eurasia in honor of Dea in Her form of Sunna, a Form and Image of the Supernal Sun. She was the primary Goddess in Germanic society for thousands of years. (7)

The pentagram is another example. Always a sacred symbol since time beyond memory, it also came to signify the five wounds of Christ! Now, anyone who walks around wearing a pentacle with be met with averted eyes and airs of suspicion.

Now, what is being called Odin’s Cross (it is a Celtic solar cross) is used as a symbol of White Supremacists groups. .

I, for one, refuse to allow our most sacred symbol be overtaken by these people. We know the depths of meaning this symbol has for the Deanic religion. And it has meaning in Celtic Christianity, too.

Image result for Celtic solar cross pendants

Odin’s crosses tend to be very rugged looking and very straight. I wear one that is very Celtic looking and is probably closer to the Celtic knot cross.

Yes, we could change our main symbol. But, how many times do we have to change symbols because some evil group decides to use it to represent them?

To those who are concerned about wearing a symbol that has been taken over by evil, and I do understand, then I suggest a Celtic knot cross such as the following. Not all have the inner circle which represents the Still Centre of Being, but, they are close enough.

Janite Altar Set Up

Janite hestia altars are to be found everywhere:  a corner table; the top of an hope chest; a bureau, an icon corner, or a specially made altar. Some have room for  seven candles, others have room for one central candle.

Right now, as I have recently moved and we are still renovating the interior of my hestia, I am actually using an antique vanity table. I have a picture of the Holy Daughter on my altar and images of the Celestial Mother and the Great Mother up above the altar.

The altar is placed in the East. When the Mistress of the Hestia or the madria/madrina is facing the altar, she is facing East.

So, the number of candles to be found on a Janite altar would be one of of sacred numbers: one, three, five or seven. They can be arranged any way.

The altar cloth or scarf is the color of the Season and so right now, the altar cloth would be red.

When I had my main altar set up, I had the five directional candles and two main altar candles for the sacred number seven. For safety sake,if using the seven, these candles may also be lined up along the back of the altar. Today, I have two antique globe lights as my main altar candles, two pillar lights and a central tea light.

The scriptures should be on a side-table, to the left. (If they fit on the altar, great!)

If not allergic to incense, there should be an incense holder, which is placed to the back-right-hand side of the altar, along with a bowl of holy water, which is placed to the right and  a vial of holy oil which is placed on the left of the altar.

We use wands to bless in the five directions, to stir the water when making holy water and for other liturgical reasons. A fresh evergreen  branch, that has been found on the ground, may be used instead of the wand. The wand is placed on the right side of the altar, near the holy water.

If the altar is small, then the central candle is moved to the back of the altar and the chalice and patene’ are placed in the center of the altar.

A statue, icon or image of Our Lady may be placed in the middle of the altar (behind the chalice and patene’) or above or near the altar. Of course, images of the entire Trinity and the Janati may surround the altar as well. Look up icon corners and see how many images Orthodox Christians have in their home shrines!

The Madrians had a ritual to consecrate an altar or home shrine which will be found in the prayer book. For now, simply following the Blessing Rite and bless (with holy water), consecrate (with incense) and anoint(with holy oil) your altar.

The blessing with holy water is done through the Grace of the Holy Daughter, Kora.

The consecrating with incense is done through the Energy or Force of the Celestial Mother, Mari. (If allergic, this step may be skipped.)

The anointing with holy oil is done through the Power of the Great Mother.

The Blessing Rite may be found here:

Eternal is the Light of the Mother,

Eternal is the Love of the Daughter,

Eternal is the Life of the Great Mother.

Bits and Pieces

18 Flora/June 2

Columbadi/Friday  Day of Madria Grace.

O, Madria Grace, Jana of Compassion, Love and Mercy, be with us. May the Pure Stream of Your Virtues flow within me, in this world and in all the worlds to come. Blessed are You.

This brief Bits and Pieces covers Fairies, Auroram and our Trinity Days.

Fairies

Dear Sisters,

One thing that I love about our religion is that we believe in fairies and the nature spirits.

12) And the Mistress of All Things was filled with delight and ran laughing through the forests of the Earth. 13) And every peal of Her voice became the image of a silver fragment of Her Spirit. 14) And the trees and rivers were filled with nymphs and every kind of sprite. And all were Her daughters. And Her love for each was inexhaustible, for each was a reflection of some boundless fragment of Her unbounded Spirit. 15) And all their multitude did not exhaust the number of the fragments of Her Spirit. 16) And to each was given the governance of some earthly thing. The Creation, verses 12-16 (SMR edition.)

I had read the amazing story of Findhorn some time ago. https://www.amazon.com/Findhorn-Garden-Story-Inspired-Photos/dp/184409135X

Recently, I have discovered a book entitled, Seeing Fairies, From the Lost Archives of the Fairy Investigation Society, Authentic Reports of Fairies in Modern Times by Marjorie T. Johnson. It is available on Kindle as well as Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Seeing-Fairies-Archives-Investigation-Authentic/dp/1938398262

This woman spent decades writing this book. The first intro and forward are a bit tedious, but contains some important information. On the other hand, the author’s ‘voice’ is engaging and I have been enthralled with what I’ve read so far.

Hundreds of people have seen fairies over many centuries. How can they all be mistaken?

We are coming to understand that not only is life most likely on other planets, but possibly in other dimensions. Our eyes are capable of seeing only so much. There might be a lot of things around us, that we are not able to see. If we can believe in angelic beings who live on an higher vibrational realm, why do so many discount the possibility of fairies who also live at an higher vibration?

One thing the author of this book explained was: All these beings are the manipulators of the forces of Nature. They are active in the Mineral, Vegetable , Animal and Human Kingdoms and play an essential part in the Divine Plan. Their bodies are fluidic and self-luminous and they can assume different forms, but mostly imitate the human They may be seen as pulsating clouds of colour or as tiny etheric lights. Some have wands, which are a symbol of authority in the Fairy World. All these nature spirits are part of the Angelic Hierarchy and evolve eventually into Angels.

Every flower and tree contains within it, the archetype, or Divine Idea, of what it is to become, and it is the nature spirits who help to bring this into manifestation. They are ready and willing to cooperate with us in every aspect of human life if we will learn to obey Nature’s fundamental laws. (This latter was borne out at Findhorn.)

As you can see, we find some Deanic teachings in the above paragraph. There are other compatible spiritual concepts mentioned in this lovely book that would be of interest to Deanics, as well.

With the Feast of the Fairy Queen, Aine, coming up on 8 Rosa/June 20, this is quite a suitable book to read in preparation for the upcoming festival. The Fairy Queen Aine was the Divine Mother Goddess Aine.

Beautiful rosary hand-crafted by Miss Leah of the Deanic Ladies Community.

Auroram

I am very pleased with Sorella Minna’s idea of referring to rosaries as Auroram. The Janites will be adopting this practice, as well.

This is her beautiful rosary:

The Auroram by Sorella Minna, http://humbleladyofdea.tumblr.com/devotion

I am not fond of the term ‘Rosary’ for Déanic prayer beads. The Catholic church is too rife with controversy and abuses for me to be comfortable sharing any terms. So instead, I offer a term for Déanics in reference to prayer beads:‘The Auroram’, which translates as, ‘The Dawn (which I act upon)’. With a base in the word Aurora, symbolizing the Daughter, I feel it quite fitting.

An Auroram to Mysteria (I shield my eyes)

*An Auroram to be done silently, in honor of Her

To be done on a string of 108 beads (picture coming soon). Nine sets of a trio of small beads with a larger bead in between each trio, repeated three times total for 108 beads. A small charm can be put between each set of 36 beads (nine trios with a large bead between each trio) as well.

On each small bead (entire prayer is done on each small bead, so that the entirety is repeated 3 times in a row):

Let me be steadfast
Let me be silent
Let me be still

On each large bead:

Hail, Mysteria, Fountainhead of Grace, glory be to Thee.
Blessed art Thou, O,  Empress of Heaven and blessed is the beloved Mother and Daughter.
Holy Dea, Great Mother God, bless us, Thy children, now and unto the ages of ages. Amen.

On each of the three charms (sourced from the Janite Website):

Hail to the Queen, the Nebula of Nebulae
The First before all, whose hand holds Creation
The stars are but diamonds in your hair
The Universe is but a gem upon your hand
I reach out to you, a child to their Mother,
on this day, and every day
For the rest of my life.

Our Trinity Days:

While each day is Sacred, the three days of Foradi, Sunnadi and Lunadi are considered, within Janite Tradition, to be the Trinity Days.

Foradi/Sat. is not only the day of Madria Rhea, but it is also the day of the Great Mother, Mysteria.

Sunnadi/Sunday is the day of Madria Theia and of the Celestial Mother, Mari.

Lunadi is the day of Madria Candra and of the Holy Daughter, Kora.

Most of our devotees serve the Rite of Sacrifice on the Full Moon, only. Madrians served it on other Moons, too. Some devotees are also drawn to serving the Rite of Sacrifice each week. In this case, the practice of our priestesses might be adopted. We serve our liturgy on any one of the Trinity Days. And so we might serve the liturgy either on Foradi/Sat. (in honor of the Great Mother); Sunnadi/Sunday, in honor of the Celestial Mother or Lunadi/Monday in honor of the Holy Daughter.

One practice might be to serve the Rite of Sacrifice or liturgy according to the nearest moon. For instance, for the weekend after the Full Moon, the RoS or the liturgy could be served on Sunnadi, in honor of the Celestial Mother. On the weekends after the waxing and waning Crescent Moons, Lunadi would be chosen. On the weekend after the Dark Moon, Foradi would be chosen, each with their appropriate Preface. But, this is entirely according to personal desire. I do think I’m going to start making this my personal praxis. This way, the liturgy becomes very Trinitarian.

However, I wish to make clear that for devotees and our Sisterhood, the only mandate is to serve the RoS on the Full Moon. All else is optional, according to personal desire.

May Our Lady bless you,

Blessed is She

The Meaning of the Day of Kala from a Janite Perspective.

16 Columbina/April 4

~

Madria Erin, in her most engaging and thoughtful post on Lustration/Kala, asked the question, what is the full thealogy of the day, if the Daughter is not dead?

Our Scriptures teach that the Holy Daughter suffered a torturous Descent down through the Realms before Her Death. These scriptural verses, taken altogether, are seemingly inspired by the Mythos of Inanna, Persephone, and the Passion of the Christ. Our scriptures continue with the story of how after Her death, the Holy One went to the deepest, darkest realms in order to carry the Light of the Mother to every corner of existence. (Jesus was said to have descended into hell, after death, to free the souls waiting there. Persephone, of course, spent six months in Hades.) On the Holy Feast of Eastre, as evidenced in the Mythos of Persephone, the Daughter was rescued and resurrected by Her Mother.

And though, I cannot speak for Filianists, I would assume that Kala is spent in the remembrance of the Passion and Death of the Holy Daughter. (We must keep in mind that there were many dead and resurrecting pre-Christian gods. This timeless myth extends thousands of years B. C.)

There is an hauntingly beautiful Filianic lament in honor of Mari-Anna that is often chanted on this day. {Anna is the name of the Holy Daughter in Filianic Tradition. Though it is said to come from the name Hannah, it also stems from Inanna and Jana as in Di-Jana or Di-Anna. (Jana is correctly pronounced Yanna}.

We must also be mindful of the fact that the name, Demeter, translates to God the Mother and Persephone (per seph o nay), before Her Descent into Hades, was called Kore (Kor-eh or Kora), which means the Maid/Maiden or Daughter. It was after the Divine Kora returned to the Earth from the Underworld that She was called Persephone. (1)

I and both of my bishops, believe that the Eleusinian Mysteries, served in honor of Demeter/Persephone, were truly based upon the Divine Mother and Daughter.

These ancient rites were liturgical in nature and had a Divine Communion Rite. The Eluesinian Mysteries were based on a Mother-God and Daughter-God Who were separated, the Daughter descended into hell, and Her resurrection was celebrated, annually.  During this Rite, devotees truly believed that they were receiving the Body of Demeter,’ God the Mother’,  through the Communion Bread.

The deeply meaningful and mystical Communion Rite of the original Madrian liturgy, part of which is to be found in our scriptures, was inspired by the Myth of Persephone. Though Persephone did not die, per se; rather, She was trapped in the underworld where Her Mother shattered the gates of Hades in order to rescue Her; this Mythos may be considered symbolic of a death and resurrection. Certainly, the resurrection of all life on Earth followed the return of Persephone from the under-world.

In Sophian Tradition, there is also a Communion Rite that may be based upon Proverbs.

Just as Filianists and other Matriarchal scholars have managed to discover the pre-Patriarchal roots of many Goddess-based myths, in Janite Tradition, the Cosmic Drama of the Holy Daughter is founded upon the pre-Patriarchal Mythos of Sophia/Shekinah (see http://www.suppressedhistories.net/articles/GnosticGoddessFallenSophia.pdf).

The Divine Sophia is pan-religious, meaning, She is not confined to one religion. She is actually pre-Christian and all may worship Her. She is the Image/Form that Janites use for the Holy Daughter. Included in the Mythos of Shekinah/Sophia is the Divine Shattering.

Sources for this Myth of the Divine Shattering of Shekinah/Sophia may be found within certain traditions of Kabbalism, in Gnostic schools of thought and in ancient Syrian Gnostic Christianity.

In Kabbalism, this Descent is not considered to be the punishment it is in Gnostic Christianity; it is a voluntary act on the part of Lower (meaning immanent—so Daughter-Form) Shekinah out of Her love for the Children of Israel and this Descent through lower-vibrational density resulted in the Shattering of Her Soul.

Unlike Kabbalism, the Christian Sophian Tradition, unfortunately, blames this Shattering on a mistake that Sophia supposedly made by trying to create without Her Male Partner. We, and many modern Christians and Sophian devotees, do not accept this Patriarchal view of Lower (again, meaning immanent-so Daughter-Form) Sophia. She is said, in ancient sources, to always do the will of Her Mother (Higher Sophia) and so, She descended down through the Realms, like the Shekinah (they are One and the same Being) to be immanent with the Children of the Earth, but this torturous Descent down through the ever increasingly denser and darker dimensions eventually caused Her Soul to Shatter. This Shattering, as taught in Shekinan/Sophian Mythos, did not cause Her death, rather, it caused Her to become the World Soul or the Holy Soul of the World (of all of us and all of Nature).

In contrast to the Mythos of Persephone, the Divine Sophia is not saved by Her Mother. Rather, She, like Quan Yin, chooses to remain immanent with us. She becomes an integral Part of us, to unite as One Being with us, until the day we desire nothing but Perfect Love and so at that ending of the time of our Soul Journey, She ascends with us, assuming our souls unto the Celestial Mother in the Heavenly Realm of Bliss, the Pleroma, our True Home.

I picture the Divine Shattering of the Holy Daughter like an hologram that has been shattered into a million pieces. Each shattered piece (us) is still a reflection of the Whole and yet, the Core of the Original Wholeness is still intact because the Holy Daughter is God and God cannot disintegrate. She cannot die.

The Holy Daughter is like the Central Piece of the Original Hologram. Though the fragile, rarefied outward pieces of the Daughter’s Soul was Shattered (and Sophia is said to have had a rarefied Body—Soul), Her Essence, Her Spirit, did not, could not, shatter, disintegrate. Thus, the Original Immanent Image of the Celestial Mother, She Who is the Holy Daughter, was Shattered, and yet, remained Whole in an of Herself and we, Her Divine Sparks, each were ensouled with Her Soul. She is the Soul of our souls and the Spirit of the Divine Sparks within us. This is the Divine Mystery of the Feasts of Moura and Eastre in the Janite Tradition.

Returning to the holographic analogy: As found in Stanislav Grof’s,  the Holotropic Mind: ‘Unlike normal photographs, every portion of a piece of holographic film contains all the information of the whole. Thus if a piece of a holographic plate is broken into fragments, each piece can still be used to reconstruct the entire image.’

To reconstruct the entire image. That is why Sophia, the Holy Daughter, seeks the Sparks within us, so that She may recreate the Original Image and render us back into that Perfect Hologram in order to reunite us with the Celestial Mother, the Origin of the Image.

But, just as with the brain, where the whole is carried in the part— as the brain is damaged or sections removed, the more it is cut up, the more the memory, though it remains intact, becomes fuzzy, just so, an hologram becomes fuzzier the more it is shattered. Thus, we of the Shattered One are but imperfect, fuzzy reflections of the Divine Daughter, Who is the Immanent Image of the Celestial Mother, Who, in turn, Who comes from the Source, the Great Mother and so we must seek, through Her Grace and Her Sacraments (2) to become ever more perfect reflections of Her. And, we do so out of love of Dea, and, as our scriptures teach, out of love for Her children. We do so by striving through every thought, word and action to draw ever closer to the Holy One rather than retreating further away from Her.

 Green Sophia, by Daniel Mirante, contributing artist to the Artists Envisioning the Divine project.

To summarize: In Her desire to be immanent with us, we who are the Children of the Earth/the Children of Dea, after our fall into density, the painful Descent through the denser, lower vibrational Realms proved to be too much for the delicate, rarefied Soul-Body of the Holy Daughter, one which was not protected by a material body and so, it Shattered. We became One in Soul with the Holy Daughter. We contain souls that were given to us out of Her Sacrifice; we contain within our souls Her Divine Sparks.

In Kabbalistic teaching: The Shekinah plays another very important role in the story of creation, and in particular in the Great Plan of humankind.  It is believed that in man’s fall to a denser, less perfect state of being in the physical, the Shekinah stayed with us as we separated from God or were exiled from the ‘Garden’.  Thus, the Shekinah, once again, was voluntarily removed from God/En Sof in order for us to have our experience.  She has always stayed with us, wherever we were exiled or isolated or shut out, the Shekinah was always there in exile and isolation with us. http://www.universalkabbalah.net/Shekinah.

On the day of Lustration (Kala in the Auroran and Filianic Traditions), Janites spend a day in somber remembrance of this greatest, most heart-rending, soul wrenching, sacrificial myrrh-infused, stopped moment out of time when all the Cosmos holds its breath; the  most knee-bowing, head-veiling, thunderstruck, awestruck, Shining Being witnessed, Ultimate, Primordial Love Sacrifice of the Most Pure and Holy Daughter. She literally gave Herself to us. And, She never left us. She stayed.

In this way, She lives every single moment of every single day with us. Whether we are in pain; whether we experience joy; whether we glory in love or suffer abandonment, She is literally part of us and we of Her and so, She experiences exactly as we do with all our pain, emotions and bliss.

This is the full thealogy of the day of Kala in the Janite Tradition.

Janites practice the ancient rite of lustration/purification and veil in solemn observance of Her Descent and Shattering on the day of Lustration, 28 Moura/March 19 (if not a leap year).

May the Queen of Heaven, She Who is the Divine Shattered One; She Who is the Holy Soul of the World; She Who is the Queen of Heaven, bless you and be with you. Blessed is She.

  1. The meaning behind Persephone is a little bit of a mystery. It could derive from the Greek pertho (“to destroy”) or from phone (“murder”). She may be a Greek and Roman goddess, but that doesn’t prove that her name comes from either language. In fact, the multiple spellings of her name in ancient sources suggest that the Greeks found her name difficult to pronounce, which would suggest that it was foreign to them. Some historians believe that worship of her, as well as her mother Demeter, predate the Olympian pantheon. http://bewitchingnames.blogspot.com/2012/10/persephone.html. (Though this is the most common guessed meaning of Persephone, there are those who believe it may mean She Who lightens the darkness.)

The Spirit of Moura

20 Moura/March 11

Foradi/Sat.

O, Madria Rhea, Jana of Steadfastness, Temperance and Self-restraint, be with us. May the Pure Stream of Your Virtues flow within me, in this world and in all the worlds to come.

Madria Rhea is the Face/Power/Violet Ray/Spirit/Form of Dea Matrona, the Great Mother.

~~~
First of all, I have updated the Janati correspondence page to include which Persons of the Trinity Each represents and the chakras over which they rule. Please don’t worry about any updates. I still have to update a few other things, including some minor issues with the latest edition of the liturgy, the Mysteries of the rosary and the calendar, add terms to the glossary, etc. Once all the prayers, rites, the liturgy, calendar etc., are published in the prayer book, they will be set in stone, so to speak and there will be no more editing.
This article speaks about the importance of the correspondences of the Season, the Great Mother and the meaning of the time of Moura. Each correspondence is filled with deep, symbolic meaning.
Tomorrow night is the full Spirit Moon, which is appropriate because this Season is all about Spirit.
The symbol of this month, the Fora, represents the Element of Spirit, Spirit being the Fifth Element of the Sacred Season of Moura.
Let us remember that when we trace the Fora over ourselves in blessing, we hold the thumb and first two fingers of the right hand together, symbolizing the Trinity, then we begin by touching the forehead and then the heart chakra and say, In the Name of the Mother. This line or ray symbolizes the Celestial Mother. Next we touch the right shoulder and then the left shoulder and say, and of the Daughter. This line or ray symbolizes the Holy Daughter. Next we trace a small circle in the air directly above our heart chakra while saying, and of the Great Mother. This symbolizes the Great Mother. Finally, we end by placing our hand on our heart chakra and say: Blessed is She.
The Seasonal color of Moura is Purple, which is the Elemental color of Spirit in the Janite Tradition. Purple is also the color of the crown chakra, the spiritual chakra. The crown chakra is our connection to the Divine and some believe that upon death, we exit our bodies through our crown chakra.
Interestingly enough, in life between lives and reincarnational studies, the energy/light of those guides and beings who have attained an high evolution of spirituality is violet/purple. Here on Earth, I think it is the aura than tends towards purple for highly spiritual people.
Purple Auras and Spiritual Balance. If an advisor tells you that your aura is purple at the moment, this is a good thing. A purple aura (also known as violet or indigo) means that you are in a good space spiritually, and that you are close to experiencing a state of equilibrium and open awareness. (Beth Asaff).
When we think about it, this makes sense. Violet/Purple is at the furthest end of the light spectrum and so, it may symbolize the highest form of spiritual enlightenment or awake-fullness which means, in essence, Gnosis.
Chakras are our energy system. Do a search on the Crown Chakra is the Spiritual Chakra and you might find some articles of deep interest. Of course, where Madria Candra is the Violet Ray of Dea, the Crown Chakra would come under Her ruler-ship. 1)
While Purple is the Elemental color of Moura, Indigo is one of the liturgical colors of the Season. (Keep in mind, the liturgical colors are the colors of the robes of the Janati . These are colors that are symbolic of Who They Are in Their Spiritual Essence.  The Seasonal colors are the colors of the Five Elements.)
Indigo is the color of the Third Eye chakra, ruled over by Madria Rhea. The Third Eye chakra is the energy vortex of intuition, wisdom and spiritual insight. Both the Crown and Third Eye chakras are relevant areas of study during the Season of Moura. If interested, do a search about Third Eye meditation or opening the Third Eye.
Moura means dark or darkness. This Season is two-fold. On the one hand, we are mindful of the sacrificial Descent of the Holy Daughter down through the Seven Realms. On the day of Moura, also known in the Greater Faith as Hiatus, 28 Moura/March 19, we veil and observe the Day of the Divine Shattering.  So, Moura has a triple meaning in the Janite Tradition: it is the Fifth Season, it is the Month of the Fifth Season and it is the Day of Hiatus. Each of these three are named, Moura.
Moura is also the time of the Great Mother, Dea Matrona. We call Her Mysteria because She is Mystery and has no Name on Earth. She is the Source of Spirit, the Origin of Spirit, the One Spirit. From Her all things come. From Her all things have consciousness. Moura is the time of the Darkness, the Darkest Hour before the Bright Aurora-Dawn of Columbina.
The Darkest Hour before the Dawn is the Time of the Great Mother, but this Darkness is not evil. It has hidden Light. Always. Forever. Eternally. When those who have had Near Death Experiences speak of the Mother Light, they always describe It as a shimmering velvet Dark Light. I find this to be entrancing and enthralling.
When we speak of the Darkness associated with the Great Mother, it merely signifies Mystery and That which is Hidden. She is the Ground of All Being, whereas the Celestial Mother is the Garden of All Being. Shimmering, Velvet Darkness, Mystery, That Which is Hidden are all intensely Feminine. Intuitively, as females, we understand why this is so.
Our Great Mother is Grandmother. She Who loves us unconditionally. She Who is Ancient Wisdom. When we look up at the Spirit Moon, tomorrow night, let us think of the Great Mother and of Spirit and of the Light beyond the darkness and be encompassed in this Love. She is our Origin. She cares so much for us, She reaches out to us as Mother, and when that Light became too bright for us in this material realm, She became for us the Daughter. What greater love and care for Her creatures can this be?
Moura for us, is not a time of self-sacrifice or austere practices. The idea of a sacrificial Lent stems from Babylonia and from my own research, it originated as a time of 40 days of weeping for Tamuz in honor of his death and before his resurrection. Later, Christianity would adopt the idea from the time of Jesus fasting in the desert.
For Janites, it is a time of self-reflection, a time of deep spiritual practices, not austerities. It is a time of meditation on scripture and of the contemplation of the Great Mother and the Trinitarian Janati.
Moura is a most fitting time to concentrate on the Virtues of Madria Rhea: Steadfastness, Temperance and Self-restraint. Steadfastness in being loyal to our Soul Path; Temperance in not harming our body and Self-restraint from causing harm to others either through action or word. Moura is a somber time, but one that is the heralding of the Bright Dawn to come.
The Great Mother is veiled and so we ritually veil, if not during the entire month of Moura in Her honor, then, at least on the day of Moura/Hiatus in honor of the Holy Daughter. And let’s not forget that in the Janite and Lucienne Tradition, veiling may be symbolized by a rose in the hair or a wide head band in addition to a scarf or chapel veil, veil, head-wrap or hat. Garlands of Grace has an awesome variety! https://garlandsofgrace.com/.
So, tomorrow for the Spirit Moon, feel free to research an extra ritual or poem that you can include in your Rite of Sacrifice or Liturgy in honor of the Great Mother.
Though it is the Full Moon, please use the Preface of the Great Mother/Dark Moon in ritual.
Let us bless the Empress of Heaven,
Blessed is She.
Let us thank the Seven Janati of Power.
Thanks be to the Seven Janati.
The Challenge of an Unknown Religion
Columbadi/Friday
19 Moura/March 10
~
We all feel it. We all know what it’s like to belong to a religion that is virtually unknown and unrecognized. It’s a lonely place to be, that is for sure. Lonely and not so lonely, because we have each other; we have the Janati surrounding us, always, and we have Dea, Our Divine Mother. We are never alone.
Some people poke fun at ‘online religious communities’. Our religion began on-the-ground, in England, in the 1970’s. Ours is but one latter expression of it.
Many religions began as a small, relatively unknown band or group of people who shared certain beliefs. Perhaps they started out being called by G-d Who spoke to their prophet through a fiery bush or maybe the Son of the Father incarnated to dwell amongst them. Other religions may have begun with an charismatic prophet who attained enlightenment under a Bodhi tree or from sacred texts older than historical time. One way or another, through the preaching of prophets, the performance of miracles, sacred writings or through just plain word of mouth, these religions all grew over the years, the decades, the centuries. Some were controlled and promulgated by governments, others were not. They were all fostered and subsequently flourished on the ground, in the material world not by ‘ instant mass media’ in cyber space.
The Deanic Faith began with a group of highly educated Oxford women who came to understand that we have a Divine Mother God. These scholars were quick to point out that She is not a goddess, a superhuman, semi-divine or angelic being but She is God, Herself. Supreme Being. Supreme Being is the same way that same way that Jews and Christians understand the Father to be God and so we understand Dea to be God in the same way that Jews and Christians understand the Father to be God. Supreme Being.
These women further intuited that Dea is God in Her Own Right. She is complete within Herself. And they discovered that the religion of the Divine Mother is the oldest religion in the world.
The only religion still in existence who never forgot their Mother; who never allowed their Living Stream to dry up, is Hinduism, especially in the Shakti denomination. Other religions demoted Her.
It is hard to over-estimate the brilliance of this thinking which took place an half a century before our own day when the Holy Spirit, the Divine Sophia and the Shekinah are coming to be recognized as part of the Godhead in Their Own Right.
These women came up with a perfect system of worship for Her, for Dea Madria, Our Mother God. It was to be a very Feminine system of worship, the sum of which exists in perfect harmony with its parts. And, the gift of the scriptures, though perhaps interpreted in slightly different ways, has proven to be foundational to the over-all inner strength and spirit of the Faith.
They gave us the Five Sacred Symbols, the Five Mysteries, the perfect Five Seasons,the Feminine 28 day calendar, the understanding of the Janati and so much more. And though these things may be little understood by those not of our Faith, they are our greatest treasures.  They are our way of understanding, honoring and worshiping the Divine Feminine in this realm. They are our mindset and our heartset.
The women from Oxford shared similar beliefs. They spread the Faith through magazines and printed publications. They formed small communities.
Today, we of the greater Deanic religion share similar beliefs. In today’s world, the internet is the fastest way to ‘spread the word’, so to speak and it also connects believers from diverse parts of the world who would otherwise never come to know of each other.
This relatively obscure religion is growing, growing all the time. I see it with my own eyes. I believe it has a future because so many want to worship the Divine Mother, but they don’t know how.
Even those mainstream denominations who are coming to believe in Holy Sophia or the Feminine Holy Spirit or Holy Sophia, these churches might have some Divine Feminine hymns; they might have some Sophian prayers, but they don’t have an outright worship of Dea. They have yet to understand Her as being God in Her Own Right. We do. We are so fortunate.
I know it’s hard when we don’t know how to respond to people when they ask us about our religion/spirituality. It’s hard because we are unable to respond with something that is immediately identifiable like Christian, Jewish, Hindu, Buddhist or Pagan. We can’t even say that we are of a ‘goddess religion’ because, as previously explained, there is a difference between goddess and God. I believe that one day, the term Deanic will be identifiable, but right now, it is not.
After we are asked about our religious affiliation, the thought that goes through our heads is, ok, they’ve never heard of Deanism so how on Earth am I going to put this in a nutshell? I can’t just say I worship Mother God, because mainstream people will either have no idea what I’m talking about, or they will immediately think I’m an heretic or that I’m making it all up. Or, they will assume that I am Wiccan or Pagan, which I am neither.
Next thought: Ok, there would be too much to explain in too little time and so I’m just going to say that I’m (and then name the nearest spirituality to Deanism).
This is a tough situation for us and sometimes can make us feel a bit alienated from the world because our religion is so unique.
We cannot identify as being a part of any of the Abrahamic Faiths, although we model Dea on Sophia/Shekinah.
We cannot identify as being Buddhist or Hindu (although we might be considered a type of Western Shaktism).
We cannot identify as being Wiccan, Heathen or Pagan. Pagans and Heathens are polytheistic, we are monotheastic. Pagans believe in gods that are superhuman. We believe in God that is Supreme Being.
As an aside, this is why Janites are very careful to only use Living Stream ‘goddesses’ as Forms for Dea rather than Pagan goddesses. A Pagan goddess is not Supreme Being and therefore is not a suitable Form for Dea just as Zeus is not a Form of the Father God of Jews and Christians. They are not the same!
Our religion is unique, brilliantly conceived, complex, beautiful and relatively unknown. If we are asked about our Faith, we, as Her devotees, Her priestesses, Her daughters, should be honest. This is hard, even for me because I don’t want to have to give a quick answer, leaving the querent with the wrong impression of our Faith. I want the person to have a correct understanding of our Faith. But, that is over-whelming because no-one’s ever heard of us and there’s too much to tell!!!!!
I’ve been thinking about this a lot, lately. Only a couple of people at my work know that I am a priest (ess) of the Divine Mother. But, as a priestess, I need to be ready to answer for my beliefs, for my calling.
ArchMatrona Georgia has explained the Faith to many and has been very well received. When asked, we should strive to follow her example. We can keep it very simple. I am Deanic. It’s a religion which honors our Divine Mother. And we can leave it at that. If someone is truly interested, they can be referred to our websites and future publications. (We NEED to print up some basic brochures in addition to the prayer book that is still in progress.)
Finally, we should never feel alone. It’s wonderful that we have the internet. It is the fastest way to spread information. It is a modern vehicle of long-distance community. I always have a sense of our sisters and brothers in the Faith. I feel like we are always spiritually together. I think of all of us when I serve the liturgy, pray or write an article. I think of all of us when I am walking down the road or driving to work. We might not live near each other. We might not have on-the-ground communities because we worship in our hestias, but I feel that our spiritual bond and our instant and sometimes daily communications, teachings, posts, our sharing and our caring, though it takes place through the cyber realm, is just as real as if we attended church service together.
Let us remember the words of our liturgy, “Madria Dea, we have come before Your Earthly altar within Ekklesia, in union with the Great Janati Who stand before Your Celestial Altar in Heaven. May we be one in Spirit with all Your children, everywhere who are gathered together in Your Name.
And further: For we know that Ekklesia transcends this world, even as this sacred altar transcends the earthly stuff of which its parts are made. For we know that as we stand before this altar within Ekklesia, we stand at once before Your Celestial Altar, which is both in Heaven and in every place where Your children come together in Your Name. 1)
We are always one in Spirit and one in Ekklesia. We are always bound together in Dea.  Always together in Spirit, out of time, out of space, which is more real than the material illusion around us.
This is why Orthodox Christianity and Roman Catholicism teaches that the church, or more specifically, the liturgy is heaven on Earth or the meeting place between Heaven and Earth. This is due to the Power of what takes place during the liturgy. This is why, in most Orthodox and Traditional Catholic churches/chapels, people still dress in their Sunday best for liturgy. This same Power which brings Heaven down to Earth during the liturgy, is the same Power which binds us together as a community in Her Love, Her Spirit and beneath the enfolding shelter of Her Mantle. And we all share in the Daughter’s Soul.
We have so much for which to be grateful with this beautiful Faith. And though it can be hard for us when the mainstream people all around us, even those who aren’t so ‘main-stream’, do not know of our religion let alone understand it; we still have to be those beacons filled with light. We need to pray to Madria Vicka for the courage we need and we need to ask Madria Sofia to guide us in all Wisdom.
We may keep our answers simple and we must use discernment in what we say to whom, but we must not be afraid though our religion is little  known by the mainstream. Someday, our religion will be known.
Guiding Light of the faithful soul, fill the deepest caverns of our spirit with the exhilaration of Your love. Send us forth upon the world as torchbearers of Your delight and grant us strength in You and in ourselves that we may value all things, rightly, regardless of the consuming weight of the profane and the frailty of all that is beautiful.
Note: Our pages have been edited so many times that often, I can not see the glaring errors that are right before my eyes. Many thanks to Sorella Sophia who brought to my attention that the Creed was in the Rite of Sacrifice, twice and that the information on the Janite calendar for Moura was incorrect. These issues have been rectified.  I have also restored to the Janite Rite of Sacrifice, this passage: But we will certainly do every word that shall proceed out of our own mouth, to sacrifice to the Queen of Heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to Her, as we and our fathers have done, our kings, and our princes in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: and we were filled with bread, and it was well with us, and we saw no evil. (Jer. 44:17. Douay-Rheims).
Moura is a time of the remembrance of the Sacrifice of the Holy Daughter. It is the most profound and holiest time of year because as not only our own religion teaches about the Sacrifice of Holy Daughter, but through the teachings of Gnostic Christianity and Kabbalistic Judaism concerning Sophia/Shekinah, we read how Our Divine Queen descends down through the Realms into high density and low vibration and we learn  of Her Divine Shattering. She volunteers to undergo these sufferings in order to be with us, to sustain us and to intimately share in our lives. The Holy Daughter shares with us, Her very Soul, and rescues the Divine Sparks within us by illuminating our way. She remains with us until we are assumed back to the Holy Mother.
~
cf5e7983b6fbcebf4d3aa3e074a3649d
Moura is the time of the Spirit as Spirit is the Element of this fifth Sacred Season. It is the Fifth Element. In some Traditions, this fifth element is aether.
A question was recently asked about the origins of our spirit and whether or not our spirits might be in Heaven/Pleroma, while our souls are on Earth as is stated in our scriptures: And, She entered the great Temple of Heaven, where the spirits of Earth’s children were gathered at the Sacrifice, even as their souls were gathered on Earth. Chapter 7, vs 16, The Mythos of the Divine Maid.
The querent further asked if our spirits were eternally created in or out of time and the Pleroma. I answered, in a conversational style, by stating my own personal opinion which does not, in any way, represent the ideas or beliefs of others in the Greater Deanic Faith.
The first thing to remember is that no-one… absolutely no-one on this planet knows, with certainty, how our spirits or souls were created. No-one knows this, not even the greatest spiritual/religious leaders. These are areas that have never been revealed to us by G-d. And so, theologians and philosophers of the past have taught what makes sense to them or perhaps what they intuitively perceived and these teachings have been carried forth down through the ages.
Additionally, from an inter-faith vantage point, no-one can seem to quite agree on what constitutes the difference is between soul and spirit. Different religious and spiritual teachers/Traditions approach this from varying viewpoints.
There are many things that we simply don’t know and any religious leader who is worth their salt, will admit this fact. The Catholic and Russian priests for whom I had the highest respect, were the ones who would tell me that there are things we simply are not able to know because they have not been revealed to us. I think there are reasons why we have this so-called amnesia when we come to Earth. But, that is for a future article.
We don’t even know if our spirits are actually created, or are part of G-d, or are emanations of G-d. There are inter-Faith scriptural supports for each of these possibilities. The Deanic Faith teaches that our spirits were created at the beginning of time and that makes sense to us because we also believe in reincarnation. Christians teach that our spirits were created when we are to be born on this planet because they don’t believe in reincarnation (although there is evidence that Jesus taught it). Both religions teach that our spirits have not always been eternal, because we were created at the beginning. If we were, whether in or out of time, actually created, then we are not eternal, like G-d. But, both Deanism and Christianity teach that our spirits will exist eternally from the moment of creation.
As far as the above quote, And She entered the great temple of heaven, where the spirits of earth’s children were gathered at the sacrifice, even as their souls were gathered on the earth… it was once explained to me that this is an Hindu teaching. The exact scriptural quote was found in the original Madrian liturgy. Janites changed it to: the Janati were gathered at the Sacrifice, even as the Children of Earth were gathered upon the Earth, as we have a different viewpoint. We don’t see our spirits remaining in Heaven while our souls are journeying upon the Earth. We believe that our spirits are here, too. However, there are different ways to understand the teaching.
The only other time I had ever heard of the idea of part of our spirit remaining in Heaven during an incarnation on Earth is when I’ve read books about life between lives (past life regression) where some have said that a portion of our higher selves, i. e., a portion of our spirit remains in the Pleroma while our lower selves incarnate on Earth. While certainly anything is possible and this is one of those areas that has not been divinely revealed to us, this concept is too difficult for a lot of people to grasp; it wrestles too heavily with our perceived reality on a most intimate core level.
meditation-alex-grey-1 Meditation by Alex Grey.
I found this picture on an interesting article regarding reincarnation though this is not a spiritual website: http://www.hangthebankers.com/reincarnation-the-interlife-universal-consciousness-the-holographic-soul/
 I have stated many times that I personally believe in the holographic universe theory. And, more and more, physicists are discovering that this theory has merit and that is why the ancients always taught that this place is an illusion. There have been many articles on this, the most recent being: http://www.wired.co.uk/article/our-universe-is-a-hologram
Some physicists are teaching that our perceived reality is similar to a virtual reality video game. Soon, the technology behind virtual reality is going to seem so real that those playing the game will forget their real life, just as we forget our real life in Heaven/Pleroma (think Hymn of the Pearl). To those in the video game, the game world seems real, even though it is an illusion, just as this earth seems real to our senses, even though it is an illusion. Though the ancients taught that our world is an illusion, they did not have the modern technology framework within which to explain it.
And so, if we think of it this way, we incarnate into our avatars in the holographic/virtual reality Game of Life in order to learn our soul lessons and so we are both ‘here’ in the illusion, but we are also in Heaven/the Pleroma, our True Home, but we forget that our Higher Selves are still in our True Home, just as someone who is plugged into a virtual reality game forgets that their body is still in their own living room. Imagine how it will be when this technology is improved!
Decades ago, I read a book long before the personal computer was ever conceived, let alone the internet and virtual reality. The prophetic authoress wrote of a time in the future when there would be those who would become so caught up in the virtual world, that they would forget their real life, they would forget to eat and take care of themselves, they would lose all sense of their true selves and completely identify with their virtual avatar, just as we identify with our earthly bodies. These people would need to be saved from the virtual reality world or they would die. I think this is a great metaphor for our lives, here. We become so consumed with this world; we identify so strongly with our bodies here on Earth, that we forget our way home. That is why we need the Holy Daughter. She shares Her soul with us so that we may have a vehicle with which to enter this world. When we become lost in the illusion, She gathers the Sparks of our Spirits illuminates the Way back Home.
If we agree that the virtual reality motif is a relevant metaphor for our soul-journey, then, we may understand the verse, where the spirits of earth’s children were gathered at the sacrifice, even as their souls were gathered on the earth as is stated in our scriptures. However, we would maintain that we are not just body and soul, we are body, soul and spirit. While we are on Earth, we are a Trinity of Being. It is my belief and that of others, that our souls are the vehicles or the conduit which unites our spirits to our physical bodies here on Earth. I would maintain that our souls are the temples of our spirits as the body is the temple of the soul.
Whereas the origin of our spirits and the exact nature of our souls has never been divinely revealed to us , we should believe whatever makes sense to us or what we are intuitively given to understand.
The idea of including doctrines in a tradition is much misaligned in our era. This is because many denominations made it a serious sin to disbelieve their doctrines. This draconian church law takes away a person’s right to think for themselves. Doctrines are supposed to be a guide.  They are meant to be a guide without taking away our God-give right to think for ourselves. While Janites have a doctrine regarding our spirits as found in our Creed, in that our spirits were created at the beginning of time, this is only a guide. Devotees must believe according to their heart intelligence.
Feast of Carmentalia/Bits and Pieces I
21 Hestia/Jan. 15
Feast of Carmentalia
Sunnadi/Sunday
b060dc171aba3230aebd4c62202b8a02
O, Madria Theia, Jana of Illumination, Joy and Benevolence, be with us. May the Pure Stream of Your Virtues flow within me, in this world and in all the worlds to come.
~
Today is the Feast of Carmentalia. Carmentalia was known as ‘The Woman’s Festival” as Carmenta was known as the goddess of women. Here is a good article on it with a nice prayer:
http://www.patheos.com/blogs/religioromana/2013/01/carmentalia-the-womens-festival/. Please note that this article is using the Julian calendar. There were originally two feast days, Jan. 11 and 15.
~
We have two guest articles today. We begin with an offering for Vespers by ArchMadria Kathi. I have added the Hail, Mysteria prayer, so that I can substitute Madria Kathi’s version for our Evensong Rite. This will be posted in our Prayers and Rites drop-down menu under Evensong. Thank you, ArchMadria Kathi.
We end today’s Bits and Pieces with an historical fashion article by Sorella Shoshana. Thank you, Sorella Shoshana.
Vespers Ceremony by ArchMadria Kathi
I wrote this Janite Rite as an optional “Vespers” ceremony. Although I work at an ‘outside’ job inside my home, I sometimes find myself at the end of the day having only had a few moments for morning prayer, and so busy during the day that by 5 p.m., the day has just flown by with no opportunity for true spiritual expression. This Rite may suffice for those of us who want to wind down at the end of the day and refocus our attention. It also helps to move from one mode of thinking (our daily work) to tending our sacred Hearths and homes, with loving gratitude.
Twilight Rite
In the evening after finishing with the day’s activities, before moving into the evening, light candles and incense.
Trace the Fora upon yourself while saying:
In the Name of the Mother, and of the Daughter, and the Great Mother. Blessed is She.
Begin with:
Blessed is Our Mother God,
She Who is Mari,
She Who is Kora,
She Who is Mysteria,
Blessed is She.
or
Blessed is Our Mother God, the Holy One.
She Who is the Celestial Mother.
She Who is the Holy Daughter.
She Who is the Great Mother.
Blessed is She.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
O Celestial Mother Mari, O Holy Daughter Kora, O Great Mother of Mystery
As we move into the peaceful night
We are grateful for the works of our hands and our hearts
May we bless our loved ones, and our Sacred Hestias
as You have blessed us this day.
Gather us into the folds of Your Mighty Mantle, Madria Dea
Kindle in us Your gentle light, Beloved Kyria
Comfort us in the darkness, Great Mother
And May the Seven Janati be with us this night
Blessed be the Holy Ones.
Hail, Mysteria, Fountainhead of Grace, glory be to Thee. Blessed art Thou, O, Empress of Heaven, and blessed are the Beloved Mother and Daughter. Holy Dea, Great Mother God, bless us, Thy children, now and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
.
Optional: Scripture reading or Rosaries, as desired.
Silver Light of the Forests
Silver Light of the darkling forests, send us forth in the protection of Your Spirit that no profane thing may enter into us.
Grant us to see all things with delight that are lovely and to glory and increase in force and energy.
Fill us with wonder in the sight of the seas and of the heavens and of every place wherein You are.
Commander of the roaring wave, help us to turn from all that is low or inglorious neither with anger nor with pain, but to know that in You we stand above all such things.
Guiding Light of the faithful soul, fill the deepest caverns of our spirit with the exhilaration of Your love. Send us forth upon the world as torchbearers of Your delight and grant us strength in You and in ourselves that we may value all things rightly, regardless of the consuming weight of the profane and the frailty of all that is beautiful.
Closing
The Prayer of Eternity
Eternal is the Light of the Mother.
Eternal is the Love of the Daughter.
Eternal is the Life of the Great Mother.
Glorious is Eternity of Dea.
Let us bless the Holy One.
Blessed is She.
Let us thank the Seven Janati of Power.
Thanks be to the Seven Janati.
Trace the Fora upon yourself and say: In the Name of the Mother, and of the Daughter, and the Great Mother. Blessed is She.
A change in the calendar: As it happens, I blessed my son’s house on the day of the Full Blessing Moon. This ended up being so powerful, I am changing the day of the Blessing of the Hestia to the day/night of the Full Blessing Moon.
~
Janite Deanics observe three main prayer times of the day in honor of the Divine Feminine Trinity. Aurora (meaning Dawn) is in honor of the Holy Daughter. Janites model the Holy Daughter on the Divine Sophia/Shekinah. Noon-tide is in honor of the Celestial Mother (modeled on Higher Sophia/Shekinah) and Evensong celebrates the Great Mother (the Monas/Absolute Deity).
~
Each Person of the Divine Feminine Trinity has a royal Title:
Holy Daughter Kore: Queen of Heaven.
Celestial Mother Mari: High Queen of Heaven.
Great Mother Mysteria: Empress of Heaven.
As Janites, we have traditional endings to our prayers. This is a very powerful cementing of a religious foundation and it provides synchronicity and continuity for the Faith. You find this in other religions as well, especially within Catholic and Orthodox Christianity.
Perhaps even more so than other forms of Deanism, Janites (as well as the Lucienne Tradition) are very highly Trinitarian focused. This is reflected in our three main prayer times.
And so, during Aurora, in honor of the Holy Daughter, we include the full Hail, Kore prayer and we end our prayers with: Let us bless the Queen of Heaven. Blessed is She, etc.
During Noontide, in honor of the Celestial Mother, we pray the full Hail, Mari prayer and we end with, let us bless the High Queen of Heaven, etc.. (Noontide is purposefully short so that people may pray during lunch hour at work.)
During Evensong, in honor of the Great Mother, we pray the full Hail, Mysteria prayer and end with, let us bless the Empress of Heaven, Blessed is She etc.
However, when we are praying a general prayer where we are not praying specifically to a Person of the Trinity, such as after a rosary, the Rite of Sacrifice, the liturgy, etc., we wish to honor the Trinity as One and so we say: Let us bless the Holy One. Blessed be Dea. I will be making this changes in our Prayer Rites.
Honoring Nature:
Nature is a very important aspect of our Faith. Where we are moving to our camp on the lake, I have begun to take an interest in the local plants and wildlife. I am incorporating lake themes and local plants into my home decor. For example, we have wild irises growing along the shoreline and I was fortunate enough to find plates, a tea pot and other items painted with wild irises. We have an owl that comes to our yard every evening and so I found a wonderful owl clock. We have hundreds of beautiful waterlilies in the lake each year and so I found another clock with waterlilies. These are just some of the ideas I have had in incorporating the wildlife that I love outdoors, into my home to honor them. There are many other ideas that I am using, as well.
In Cordova, Alaska, my son’s fiance works in a shop called The Net Loft. http://thenetloftak.com/. There, they use only good yarns and they are all hand-dyed from plants, lichen, berries and mushrooms! She recently gifted me with some of the yarn and the colors are far, far more vibrant than those that are synthetically dyed. Their tradition is that local meaning is incorporated into the colors of the yarns and also, the patterns. Their Gansey sweater project incorporates patterns that are symbolic of the person or the area along with ‘Cordova colors’. You find this local pride symbolized in many areas of their life. It helps you to truly appreciate where you live in a more traditional village sense. Even if you live in a big city, you can find local plants, trees and the native meaning of your area.
Another nice thing to do is to find out what plants are native to your area and grow some more. I will be planting a wild flower meadow with flowers that are native to my area. I have also been researching local medicinal  and edible plants and was astonished to find that many plants that I have known all my life, that I thought were ‘weeds’ (my sister, a master gardener, says there is no such thing as ‘weeds’. I agree with her) are either edible or medicinal. (Always be careful, many plants are quite poisonous.)
It’s also nice to research your local waterways, even brooks and creeks and learn the constellations above your head!
Nature isn’t just about ‘casting spells for magick’; Nature is part of us and we are part of Nature. Nowadays, people are becoming more and more divorced from Nature, which is not healthy for either our bodies or our souls.
Many think that just because plants don’t have brains or physiology similar to humans and animals, that they are essentially non-conscious, but many are finding out, otherwise. We, ourselves, have to remember that our consciousness does not reside in our brains.
Though still controversial, remember back to when you were a child and how you experienced plants and trees.
