~

O, Madria Candra, Madria Theia and Madria Rhea, be with us.

May the Pure Stream of Your Virtues flow within me, in this world and in all the worlds to come. Amen.

~

Our Lady Wisdom has Seven Faces, Seven Powers, Seven Living Streams. Today, we celebrate and honor three of Them.

I am Theia, the Orange Ray of Illumination. I am the Brilliant Light of the Supernal Sun.

The Three-Fold Heaven is where I reign and it is Spirit that I guard.

Come to me when you are in need of enlightenment and I will open your mind.

Learn of me the Diamonds of Joy and Benevolence and these shall be returned unto you, three-fold.

Seek me when you have sadness and are not able to perceive the joy in life and I shall uplift you.

Lend your downtrodden heart to me and I will return it to you overflowing with gladness.

I am Theia.

From the Seven Jeweled Rays by ArchMadria Pamela Lanides

Madria Theia is the Face and Power of Dea Madria, our Divine Celestial Mother God. She, like the Holy Mother, is Brilliant Light. She is the Power of the Supernal Sun. She is Illumination and She illumines. She is all Joy with the promise of Eternal Bliss. Heaven shines through Her; its rays touch us, lightly. She is our Sun and our family’s Sun. She is the Light and Center of our life. She is the Power of Light. She is the Face of Radiance. She is the Divine Prism of the Resplendence of the Mother. She is with us every day and in every way. The charge of Madria Theia, is that we emit joy from our hearts in our every day lives and mindfully strive to live a joy-filled day. When we radiate joy, we become joy. We are the reflection of the Sun of Dea on Earth. On Sunnadi, we honor Madria Theia and practice Her Virtues.

I am Candra, the Violet Ray of Purity. I am the Brightness of the Supernal Moon.

The Three-Fold Heaven is where I reign and it is Spirit that I guard.

Come to me when you are in need of forgiveness and I will cleanse your heart.

Learn of me the Moonstones of Reflection and Reason and you shall be guided, always.

Those who are my priestesses, do naught without me; act only through me.

I shall transmute the Graces Divine through you unto the world and make of you a Living Prayer.

I am Candra.

From the Seven Jeweled Rays by ArchMadria Pamela Lanides

Madria Candra is the Face and Power of the Holy Daughter. She is the Reflection of Her Purity and She imparts to us, the Holy Daughter’s Reason. She is the Power of Priestesshood and She is the Mistress of priestesses. Silver rays fall from Her hands, imbuing the soul of the priestess, the deaconess, the sister, with the secrets of the Mystery, that which is intuited by the feminine heart, but cannot be put into words. The Moonlit magick that is not spells, but Nature and Pure. That which draws us to the Moon and is tied to Water. That which fill us and overflows us, within and without, is that which only our souls can understand. We are Her handmaidens. The charge of Madria Candre is that we always remember, are always mindful of who we are and how we have been marked, in Her service, with every step we tred; with every act we make; and with every word we speak. As priestesses, deaconesses and sisters, we look to Madria Candra as our mentor. In the priestesshood, we are Her handmaidens who channel the Holy Daughter through liturgy and grace. We are a reflection of the Moon of Dea on Earth. On Lunadi, we honor Her and practice Her Virtues.

I am Rhea, the Indigo Ray of Steadfastness. I am the Fore-bearing Stream of the Supernal Cosmos.

The Three-Fold Heaven is where I reign and it is Spirit that I guard.

Come to me when you are in need of fortitude and resolve and I shall grant you strength of will.

Learn of me the Lapis of Temperance and Self-restraint and you shall conquer the world.

Whenever you are filled with self-doubt, I shall inspire you with confidence and earnestness.

If fear diminishes determination, I shall inspire you with perseverance and certainty of purpose and never lead you astray.

I am Rhea.

From the Seven Jeweled Rays by ArchMadria Pamela Lanides

Madria Rhea is the Face and Power of the Great Mother. She, like the Great Mother, is Dark beyond the light and Light beyond the Darkness. (From our liturgies.) She is a Reflection of Mystery, Mysteria, She Who is the Great Mother. And yet, She is not distant; She is not unapproachable. In fact, She is the closest one, in a way. The Grandmother. The One Who loves you unconditionally and with Whom you feel the most comfortable. She is so Ancient, it is hard to fathom Her in your young eyes and mind, and yet, Her Great Maternal love envelops you and encompasses you. It’s ok that you don’t understand Her; She understands you. Do not fear to approach Her, She Who is the Ancient of Days, the Time before Dawn. Her planet, Saturn, means ‘to sow’. She is the Beginning; She is the Gardener;, She sows the Seeds of Life, the Sacred Apple Seeds of all the Living. These Seeds takes root in the Garden of All Being, the Holy Mother, the Matrix of Life. The Seed is given birth and is enveloped in a Soul by the Holy Daughter. Madria Rhea is the Great Mother’s Face, Her Power. She is our very beginning. She knows us more intimately than we know ourselves. She is not destruction; She is Life. Destruction is a natural part of physical life, but it has no reality in the Realm beyond this realm. Life, though, life is eternal.

We are a reflection of the Saturn of Dea on Earth.

On Foradi, we honor Her and practice Her Virtues.

~

Let us bless the Holy One.

Blessed is She.

Let us bless Madria Theia, Madria Candra and Madria Rhea.

Blessed be Madria Theia, Madria Candra and Madria Rhea.

Blessings and thanksgivings be.

Blessed be the Janati of the Four-fold Earth.

How to Celebrate the Feast Days of the Janati

Stelladi/Wed.

3 Astrea/Nov. 30

~

First of all, I would like to apologize for the lateness in writing this article. I was hoping to have it completed before the actual Feast Day. I know we have many new readers of the blog and I really wanted to have a chance to explain how we celebrate our feast days on time.

Everyone celebrates the feast days of the Janati differently. Some keep it simple and just offer a Rite of Sacrifice or maybe pray a Janati rosary in their honor. Some offer flowers and incense, feast foods and drink. Others incorporate some of Their correspondences into the day in the way they decorate, in the foods they choose or in the colors they wear. Others might incorporate special crafts or rituals, but usually these are reserved for our High Holy Days.

The correspondences of the Janati may be found on the drop down menu under The Seven Janati.

So, for instance, the following are the correspondences for Madria Sofia:

495px-Mnemosyne_(color)_Rossetti

So for Her feast day, some devotees might wear the color yellow in Her honor. They might use a yellow tablecloth and place vases of yellow flowers on the home altar or shrine and around the hestia.

They might burn the incenses that are sacred to her and decorate with images of owls and other items symbolic of Air such as feathers and bells.

download-14 foodrepublic.com

Foods for the feast meal might tend to be airy and light and well, yellow such as yellow vegetables and jello salads. Light and airy (for the Element of Air over which She rules) foods and beverages such as angel food cake, salads, champagne, white wine or white grape juice, light soups, rice, white beans, apples, pears might be an important part of the feast. All these ideas make the feast meal festive and fun.

While Madria Sofia is named after the Greek goddess of wisdom, it is important to realize that She is not the Greek goddess, She is Dea in Her Jana Form. In the Deanic Faith, Dea is One and Three and Seven. So, Madria Sofia is part of the Godhood just as the Celestial Mother, the Holy Daughter and the Great Mother are God. This is why, in the Janite Faith, we call Her Madria, because She, too, is our Mother.

She is also different than the non-Fallen Divine Sophia, upon Whom the Holy Daughter is modeled.

We honor Her by being in Her Presence on Her day, Stelladi/Wed. We might choose to wear a little something yellow on that day or find some other small way to honor Her. Though our days can be busy and hectic, it’s nice to take a moment, perhaps in the morning, to reflect about which of Her Virtues we wish to emulate and strengthen within ourselves on Stelladi.

Sometimes, I choose a Virtue that I know I’m going to need that day. I call on Her help with the Virtue of Wisdom whenever I must make an important decision about the Janite Tradition or when writing articles or counseling someone in need.

I am slowly learning to pay closer attention to my intuition. For example, so often, as I was leaving the house, I would see something and my inner voice was telling me I should take it with me, but my logical side would dismiss it as not being necessary. And, nine times out of ten, it ended up that I needed the item. I will speak more about Intuition in the next article.

When I started my new job, I prayed for the Virtue of Intelligence to see me through. This is helpful when studying for and taking tests or in a zillion other areas. There are two types of Intelligence, the IQ and the EQ. EQ is Emotional Intelligence and is just as important as the Intelligence Quotient.

b060dc171aba3230aebd4c62202b8a02

There are so many areas where Madria Sofia may help us. I love consciously surrounding myself with the Presence of the Janati during my Aurora Rite each morning. I feel like they are with me all day when I do this. And when I try to connect in a special way with the Jana of the day, I find I come to experience Them and know Them on an intimate, soul level.

O, Madria Sofia, we thank You for this day and for all Your blessings and benefits. Be with us.

~

May Our Lady bless you, Blessed is She.

The Janati Are Not Angels, They Are Dea.

One of the ways that we have explained the Janati in the past, taken from a tradition that was handed down to us, is that the Janati take on angelic form and though they are the Living Streams of Dea, they may be considered to be goddesses or angels. Unfortunately, this explanation has been misleading for many, including yours truly, when I first entered the Faith over six years ago.

Janites tend to stay away from using the words goddess or goddesses because the true nature and roles of the Classical and Celtic goddesses are greatly misunderstood in the 21st century. The modern sense of ‘goddess’ would not apply to either Dea in general, nor to the Janati in particular.

For equally valid reasons, we will no longer be referring to the Janati as angels or as being angelic-like. While angels are created beings, the Seven Janati, as the Seven Spirits of God/Dea, are uncreated Divine Beings. They are Dea, Herself.

angels A Being of Light (with Form).

The Deanic Faith teaches that Dea is One and Three and Seven. This signifies that She is a Singularity, a Trinity and a Septet. So, when we pray to Madria Thema, for example, or when we ask for the mighty help of Madria Vicka; when we honor Madria Candre as Matroness of priestesses or appeal to Madria Rhea for help in the area Self-Restraint; when we ask Madria Grace for healing or need Madria Sofia’s assistance with Wisdom; when we consciously open our minds and hearts to the Joy of Madria Theia, we are praying to Dea, Herself. They are the same as the Trinity. They have the Essence/Nature of the Godhood.

Janites are careful to never refer to the Janati as ‘aspects’ of Dea, because, again, that may be misleading. Just as the Trinity is Three Distinct Separate Beings and yet, are of one Essence (think of the grafting of the apple tree analogy), so too, the Janati are Distinct, Separate Beings and yet, are of one Essence, i.e., the one Essence or Divine Nature of Godhood as mentioned, above. They are not goddesses in the modern sense of the word, nor are they created angelic beings. They are Dea in Her Septat Form and so, in the Janite Tradition, they are called Madria, Mother. They are our Guardian Mothers. In imagery, though they may be depicted as goddesses or as angels, it is important to always remember that they are the Living, Intelligent, Streams of Dea. They are the Seven Spirits of Dea. They are the Seven Faces of Dea.

Sacred Season of Fall ruled by Madria Thema

The Sacred Season of Fall

As we faced South and bid farewell to the Noontide of Summer, during which we honored the Celestial Mother as the Rose of Joy, we expressed gratefulness for all its blessings and benefits. Now, as the Wheel spins yet again, we turn to the West and enter the time when we honor the Twilight of Autumn; a time when we revere the Holy Mother as the Apple of Wisdom.

Ruled over by Madria Thema, whose Feast Day is 1 Abalon/Sept. 5, Fall is the time of year when the last of the harvest is gathered and we prepare our hestias (homes consecrated to Dea) and our souls for the deep darkness of winter.

Like Spring, Fall is a time between times; a time of transition from one state of being to another. Where Spring marks new beginnings, Fall marks a time of endings; a time when those aspects of our lives which no longer serve us are cast off in order to plant new seeds of Wisdom and Grace within our souls. These seeds will germinate in our inner gardens through the Winter in order to better serve us at the Aurora (Dawn) of Spring.

It is a time to examine our lives and see where we are headed. We need to ask ourselves if our current Path, our goals and our life events are the ones which are true to our souls, to our higher selves. It is often said that where we are in our lives as we approach death is where we will begin our new lives in our next incarnation.

I sometimes ponder what kind of person I would like to be in my next life and then begin to work on those goals. I would like to be kinder and more harmonious. I would like to attain an inner serenity that I have not had in this life. I wish to be faithful to Dea. I want to strive to  remember that my moods and words affect those around me. These are some of the inner seeds of Wisdom that I wish to plant in my soul-garden.

During this time, I have realized that there is much that I must let go in order for the seeds that I have planted to grow and to be nourished. I must take care that these seeds will not be destroyed by the choking weeds of strife and disharmony. It’s a time for me to concentrate on living my Faith, caring for my family and for being true to my True Self.

Though eternity is out of time, here, in manifest creation, time is considered sacred because each moment of life is sacred. Each hour, each day, each month and each Season of life is holy and is meant to be lived to its fullest with gratitude. Even during times of trial and suffering, there is always something to be found for which we may be grateful and Our Holy Mother and the Great Janati are always ready to assist us. I am grateful for my Faith and for my family.

The Twilight time of Autumn, which is associated with the Element of Water in our Tradition, is a time of intuition and introspection. It is a time to assess our emotions and to search out those areas of our lives where we may foster greater Order and Harmony. Once our souls are ruled by Harmony, this Grace, which stems from the Fountain of Madria Thema, will flow within us, through this world and in all the worlds to come, as our beautiful Silver Star of the Waters prayer so aptly states.

The Apple or Abal from the Old Welsh, is the symbol for this Season containing within, the five seeds of wisdom. I bless and wear an apple pendant during this Season in honor of Our Lady, Apple of Wisdom.

May Our Lady bless you,

Blessed is She.

Title 3, Chapter 5 THE SERMON OF THE APPLE SEED

1. From the branch of a tree, the Daughter plucked an apple, and She split the apple in two halves, so that the five-pointed star formed by its seeds might be seen. 2. Then She removed the seed representing the topmost point, and held it in the palm of Her hand. And She spoke, saying: 3. “Like to this apple seed is all the teaching I have given and shall give to you. 4. Like to the full apple is all the knowledge relative to your sphere of being, 5. Like to all the other apples of the tree is the knowledge relative to all the numberless spheres. 6. But behind these spheres lies a deeper reality; changeless, beyond the impermanent flux of time. 7. For even as the apple turns from bud to bloom, from blossom to the fruit, ripens, matures, decays and is reborn; 8. so also shall the spheres and galaxies, the subtle realms, the sure and solid earth; so shall all these in their season pass away, and in their season be reborn again. 9. Thus has it been ten thousand times before, and countless times again, thus shall it be.

27 Vespera/Sept. 3

Foradi/Sat.

~~~
O, Madria Rhea, Jana of Steadfastness, Temperance and Self-restraint, be with us.
Rhea and the lion
1. As the rain fell, the light came again, and a rainbow appeared in the sky, shedding its light upon all things. 2. And whereas all things had been silver, now they took on every hue and colour, and the world was beautiful; but it was not so beautiful as it had formerly been.
3. [And She set Her seven powers in the firmament, giving one to rule each colour of the earth.]  The Creation, Chapter 3, vs. 1-3. New Celestial Union Edition.
Within the Janite Deanic Faith (which loosely translates as Gate of the Mother God religion), devotion to the Seven Janati is central to our religious practice. The Seven Janati are the Seven Powers or Faces of Dea, Our Divine Mother God.
Traditionally, certain Forms/Aspects of the Supreme/Parthenogenetic Goddess have been associated with these Seven Powers such as Eurynome, Sophia and the Shekinah. They are also known as the Seven Planetary Powers; the Seven Pillars and the Seven Faces.
Our Tradition teaches that the Janati flow from Mother God and take on rarefied angelic form. And so, the Seven Janati, a Sanskrit word meaning to generate, cause, to be born, create, beget and to produce, are the Seven Intelligent Living Streams of Dea in angelic form.
Though we may think of them as female archangels, reminding us of the female Bountiful Immortals of Zoroastrianism or the female angels of ancient Judiasm, it is important to remember that they are the Living Streams of Dea, Herself. It is as though they flow from Dea through a prism, thereby separating into Seven Jeweled, Living, Intelligent Rays who generate and produce the Seven Rivers of Life.
Do not be afraid to approach the Janati on a very personal level. They respond to our prayers and are ever-ready to assist us.
One personal custom that I have developed to honor the Janati on a daily basis is five-fold:
1) I try (although it is not always possible) to wear a color associated with the Jana (1) of the day.
2) I take a gemstone that has been charged beneath the Full Moon, bless it according to our blessing rite (found in our drop-down menu beneath the Prayers and Rites section). This stone will have been blessed with specific intentions. The intentions are: that her blessings, benefits and protection be upon me and may her virtues (here I name the specific Virtues of the Jana) be instilled within me. After this powerful blessing, I will wear it as a pendant in a gemstone cage similar to those found here:
https://www.etsy.com/market/gemstone_cage.
The color of the gemstone of the day will be associated with the color(s) of the robes of the Jana.
So, for instance, today is Foradi/Sat., (2), the day of Madria Rhea, whose robes are indigo and black. So, I will choose a crystal or gemstone as close in color as possible to indigo like dark lapis lazuli or I will choose a black stone like obsidian. During the blessing rite, along with the intentions of invoking her blessings and protection, I add the intention of instilling within me her virtues of Steadfastness, Temperance and Self-restraint.
3) I pray a septad (a group of seven beads similar to a decade of the rosary) of her mantra in the morning and through-out the day. For Madria Rhea it is: O, Madria Rhea, Jana  of Steadfastness, Temperance and Self-restraint, be with us.
4) I try to be mindful of her presence by praying to her and talking to her during the day. I try to spend time in contemplating both her and her virtues.
5) I choose one of her virtues to manifest in my life for that day. So, for instance, today I might choose to focus on Steadfastness or Self-restraint.
Any one of these customs or others similar to them will help to bring us ever closer to each Jana on a personal level and to Dea, Herself.
Let us bless the Queen of Heaven.
Blessed be Our Lady.
Let us thank the Seven Janati of Power.
Thanks be to the Seven Janati.
May Our Lady bless you.
Blessed is She.
  1. Here the name/word Jana indicates an individual member of the Seven Janati. Jana translates as Gate. The name Jana was widely associated with the goddess Diana who was well-known, in ancient Rome, as Di-Jana which meant, Divine Gate. Each individual Jana is a Gate of one of the Seven Living Streams of Life.
  2. Our religious names for the days of the week are taken from our Seven Symbols with the French ending of di. Foradi is named after the Fora which is an equi-distant solar cross with rays extending beyond the circle.
  3. Please see Janati mantras on the Janati Correspondence page and also on the Janati Rosary page.
